Hi Everyone,
Just thought I'd start a thread for all possible UAB Summer 2021, NP prospects. Has any one applied thus far? If so, what is your concentration and stats (GPA, yrs of exp, etc) I'd love to stay connected as we progress on this journey!
@SurgicalRN Yes. I plan on working full-time. Don't really have an option to scale back because of all the bills, so I really hope it's manageable. Not sure how often we'll have clinicals per week once they start. Right now I work 3 12's Wed-Fri.
Hey there! I just submitted for Peds Primary. I had a 3.35 GPA for my last 60 hours. I work full time in the peds ED at my local children’s hospital. If I get in, I plan on working full time to start but going part time when clinicals start. Do you guys know when we can expect to hear anything? Is there an interview process too?
thanks!
@mkicks8488 I think they'll let us know maybe around December. Also, there is no interview process for the NP degrees at UAB from my understanding.
I finished my application in August for the Summer 2021 semester. Talk about anxiously waiting.... I applied to the Dual APPNP program; anyone else taking that route?
@mkicks8488 I don't think there is an interview process. Were you able to skip the GRE?
@ShockEmRN I've been told by a few friends that the first year is pretty manageable while working full-time but once clinicals start, it'll be in our best interest to scale back to part-time. I'm hoping I can just eliminate one day per week to trade out with a clinical day. I work M-F currently with two kiddos at home so REALLY hoping that its manageable or else I will be real tired by the end of the week ?

I was able to skip the GRE. I didn’t think there was an interview process but I didn’t know if things had changed because of COVID or not. I read an earlier thread and some of them had interviews.
@SurgicalRN Nice! Go Dawgs! I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life while at UGA so there lies the reasoning behind my unconventional nursing path haha. But I wouldn't trade those years in Athens for anything! I just hope I get in and that we find out sooner rather than later! I saw on a thread for this semester last year that people were hearing acceptances around the last week of November so hopefully this next month will fly by!

@SurgicalRN Going to submit mine here probably tomorrow. Hey quick question. Are you going to be working full-time during this program?
