I volunteered once or twice a week at a hospital my senior year of high school, but that was 2016/2017 so I don't know if the admissions committee would even consider that. The application also asks for documentation of hours, but I doubt the hospital would even be able to dig those up. I'm woking at a covid vaccination clinic right now alongside nurses, so I'm wondering if that's good enough experience or if I should try to volunteer elsewhere as well.

I might end up doing that as well considering many of the volunteer opportunities I have looked into won't allow for direct patient contact due to the pandemic... Hopefully more opportunities will eventually open up before the application deadline so that I can get more relevant volunteer experience.

Hey! Good luck this year! what was your application experience like last year? Do you have any advice for first timers?

Hi mmkirkland,

Good luck to you too. Last year I applied a little while after the priority deadline. However, if I’m not mistaken I think some of the acceptances were given before the deadline. I had to take 2 prerequisites and I did not apply early enough so there were a lot more applications than spots left. Also, I had semesters on my undergrad transcript where I didn’t do well which worked against me. Other than that, any of the questions I had were answered swiftly and the people that I spoke with were helpful in guiding me in the process. I mostly emailed Jacqueline for last year and Leah for this year. The process was smooth but you sort of have to have everything ready to go in my experience. They did tell me that they view each application on a case by case basis. Sorry it’s long but I hope it helps.

Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum, but just applied to the AMNP program as for Spring 2022. Does anyone know when we should be hearing about interviews? Also, is anyone planning on working while in school? I currently work at UAB and have talked with some current AMNP students. Some work, but most don't. I was just thinking about tuition and how expensive it is.
