UA MEPN 2019

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hey guys I know we have months before the application due date but I have just recently decided that I am going to apply for UA's MEPN program. I'm currently finishing up microbiology and will finish off my prerequisites once I complete organic chemistry in the fall. I am extremely excited and also nervous to be applying. I still have to take the HESI so if you guys can offer any tips on how to prepare for it especially the vocab section that'd be great! Does anyone know how many apply vs are accepted and the stats of those who are usually accepted into the program? Also I'd greatly appreciate any insight on how the program is from students that have graduated from the program or current students of the program. Thanks!

Hello!
I have been a bit MIA with work and am trying to catch up with all of the tasks required before classes begin. In regards to the uniform and equipment, has anyone ordered the stethoscope w/ diaphragm bell, blood pressure cuff and penlight from sources other than the bookstore? If so, could you tell me what details you looked for in purchasing? (The bookstore also had different options and I was unsure which one to go with.)
Did anyone order more than 1 set (top and bottom) of the uniform pieces? Did anyone find cuts slightly different from the 2 options we were provided and were they acceptable?
Sorry so many Q's and if they were answered prior, I didn't seem to find these answers on here or on the fb group page.

Thanks and hope everyone is having a great day!

I bought my stethoscope online. From my experience you really can’t go wrong with Littman. I’ve had the se in the past and loved it but I wouldn’t go cheaper than the classic or more expensive than the cardiology. The classic is what you’ll see most often and asking around the cardiology can be a bit overkill, especially when your ears are new and don’t know what they’re hearing anyway. Really any cuff and penlight will do, but if you buy through bookstore you’ll get a discount. As far as uniforms go I went to a uniform store and tried on a bunch of sizes since I’ve never worn Cherokee before, fair warning I’m pretty sure they’re 90% sandpaper. You need to get the tops from the bookstore to get the patch, but I really don’t see a way that they can tell where you bought the bottoms. I personally got two tops and one bottom since I was planning on buying a second set of bottoms online. Unisex bottoms only had the one size but the women’s scrubs had the short option.

Yea, I am wanting just the standard equipment, nothing fancy-- in agreement with your point. I found some bottoms on amazon that offer in the different lengths (tall) and was hoping to be able to get them that way. I emailed the bookstore inquiring if that was okay so I will see what they say and update on here.

And "90% sandpaper", lol. They looked pretty stiff in the pictures, not gonna lie! Maybe I'll go and try some on at a scrub store too to better gauge my size.

Thanks for your response!

I have worn the same unisex scrubs for a different medical program...they are AWFUL. I was so happy to retire them just to find out again I have to wear them. I really wish they would let us upgrade to a nicer fabric and fit.

Oh man, what a bummer to hear this! Maybe we could get away with a slightly different fabrication in the pants... Does softener help at all?

@CBanks05 Please update what they say about the amazon pants! I am also very tall and need a 34/35 inch inseam.

Response: "The UA website will provide just the basic sizes. However if you are interested in more specific sizes you can order them directly from me. Please let me know which sizes are needed and I will order them. If you have additional questions please do not hesitate to reach out. Thank you"

They did not confirm or decline the part where I asked about ordering outside of the bookstore. But looks like you can email Lamond Wright about specific inseam sizes. Hope this helps!

Hey everyone! So the information they emailed us about the pants gives the style number. Apparel Pro sales the EXACT SAME pants for like half the price and they have tall. IJS. ?

Hey guys! I was an alternate and i got accepted today. Can someone give me a run down on what I need to do first? I have so many different emails. The only thing I have done is my fingerprint clearance card. Thank you so much!

Congrats!! Which Campus? I would say get your titers done asap if you're not current on all immunizations. I just got my results back, and some are 2 series shots that have to be given at least a month apart. Good luck!
