Hello,
Can anyone share some information on hospitals that are presently recruiting international nurses. I have a BSN from US college and will be sitting the NCLEX in August, 2013. Also pursing a MSN-Eduction with US college online.
Thanks

You'll be hard-pressed to find a hospital to sponsor you in this economy when so many US citizen nurses don't have a job...although at least it'll be easier to get a license since you're US educated

There will be no one recruiting international nurses with so many US nurses out of work. Also you would have to possibly apply for Green Card.No one will want to wait 6 years.

Well thats not entirely true. I am in the US on TN status. Guess it just depends on if OP is from Canada or Mexico.
True.
thanks for your post. I have heard instances where persons got recruited based on their level of experience. So maybe there is still hope, i have over seven years of experience as a RN.

Nurses for sponsorship generally come under EB3 regardless on experience and there is over a 6 year wait for immigrant visa. If specialised and experienced EB2 may be an option and Masters may also qualify EB2 or 1 however jobs must meet that category and requirements. H1b unless facility isn't capped then can not be applied for until next April with Oct start

I would start applying for positions. The forms will ask you if you are legally allowed to work in the US and you say " No". Then they will decide whether they want to interview you.
I would only apply for positions that REQUIRE (not prefer) a BSN. Try and look for positions with the words manager or coordinator in them. You might be able to get an H1B in this situation. If you apply at a not for profit and cap-exempt hospital (one that's associated with an educational or research institution). Not knowing where you were born makes it difficult to advise. Once you have your Masters immigration might be easier, but since you will be applying for Masters REQUIRED positions your experience will be more important.
Silverdragon- the wait for EB-3 for ROW, Mexico and China is currently just under 4.5 years. It jumped forward more than a year in a month recently.
Thanks Misswoosie,
I was born and live in the Bahamas. Thanks so much for you advice

Be legally first here. :)

If you have your BSN from the U.S. college, did you apply for your OPT? If so, you will get one year of employment authorization, and then one more year once you finish your MSN. The catch her is that you have started you MSN already, and because of that, you are possibly ineligible for post-BSN OPT anymore, because resuming your studies toward a higher degree automatically invalidates your eligibility for OPT. I would suggest to look into WOCN certification, which will make you eligible for H-1B.
