U of Calgary Degree Holder Winter 2015

World Canada CA Programs

Hello,

This is for anyone who has applied to the Degree Holder Route at U of C. I just wanted to let people know that if they have transcripts that still haven't been ordered from an Alberta Institution (through ApplyAlberta), give the admissions office a call (403-210-7625) and have them request it to be sent.

I was checking myuc everyday waiting to see if my transcript from Athabasca had been ordered and it still hadn't. I called admissions and the man told me he had to put a request for it to be ordered from Athabasca.... good thing I called or else they might not have ordered it in time for the Sept 30 deadline!

Hey guys,

Please refer to the following link for all the to-do's before Jan 12:

Transfer route, and degree holder route students, actually graduate different semesters! Transfer students have the summer/spring off before term 7, and degree holders do not.. (scroll down to the chart in the link below for clarification;))

University of Calgary : 4.1 Bachelor of Nursing Program at the University of Calgary

A possible name could be something along the lines of "2015 Entry, U of C Nursing, degree holders/transfer students"

Although that is a pretty long name... hahah really anything would do! :)

As a side note, I received my green check mark yesterday, and signed up for classes. Beyond excited!

Thanks aNurse'son! Super helpful

Okay I made a closed group.. it is called U of C Nursing Jan 2015 Entry. Thanks jkd12 for the help!!

I think you can search it and then request to join.

Thanks Quartz, nice cover photo by the way!

Below is the link to our FB group pate, just in case anyone has trouble finding it:

Hello! I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced what I have so far...so I got an email from U of C nursing yesterday regarding my English credit (university level). I live in Manitoba and have attended the U of Manitoba where I have always been advised that we do not need to take a course specifically titled "ENGLISH" for our degrees, but do need to take a "W" as its called (a written English requirement course). In these "W" courses we write many papers and have many written assignments, which is always equivalent to the same load one should experience while in an English titled course. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm worried that I will not get accepted now because I do not have an English titled course, however I do have 2 "W" courses (written english courses) from the U of M.

Hi Mandy172,

I had the same issue as you did, but I realized it one term before handing in my application. I called the admission and learned that they determine the eligibility of your writing course by checking if it can be transferred towards an English course at U of Calgary. Unfortunately, the "W" course I took at SFU was a philosophy course, so I had to take another English writing course this spring.

If I were in your shoes, I would call admission and explain to them how the "W" courses I took is equivalent to a typical English writing course. Being able to provide a detailed course outline or syllabus is even better.

Good luck!

To those who are already enrolled in courses, did you manually enroll in them, or were they already done for you? I officially had my green check mark, but I don't have any scheduled classes yet.

You need to manually enroll NURS 285, 287, 288 and 289.

You manually enroll in them! 3 courses are lectures and 1 is a lab. The course codes are NURS 285, 287, 288, 289, which you can search for when you click the enroll link on your account :)

Hey guys! So I got a yellow check mark that says "tentative admission - outstanding items." I honestly didn't think I'd get in this year because I only had taken anatomy and upper level animal physiologies, but not the generic first year one. I just wanted to see where my grades sat for applying next year. Does the yellow mean I got an admission, or is it only if I finish a physiology course by a certain date?

It means if you finish a physiology course, then you will be admitted into the 2015 winter program. However, if you cannot get it done before the deadline, you will have to re-apply to the 2015 fall program. Previous admission results do not influence current admission decisions.
