Typical schedule.

Published

Hi everyone!

I am curious to know what hours everyone works. What is your typical daily work schedule look like?

Thanks! :)

Specializes in pediatrics, School LVN.

My hours are 8-3:30. There are 5 sites with varying hours the earliest is 7:45-2:33, the latest is 8:27-3:05. I usually get to work around 7:45/7:50, and I have been known to stay until 4:00. I am hourly. I don't claim OT, but I also don't feel guilty leaving at 3:00 fo an appointment. I also never take my breaks and if I do eat lunch it's at my desk in the health office.

7:30 to 4! I get overtime for my after school club on Friday, so until 5 or longer if I have to.

I'm 7:30-4.

School is from 7:30-3:15 I believe.

However, because i leave at 3 on Thursdays, I stay til 5 on one of the other days.

Specializes in 12 years as a school nurse.

Part-time School nurse here! I cover 2 buildings with a total of over 320 students preK-12. I typically spend one 8-hr day at each building per week. That is all I'm contracted for. I am allowed to come in extra days when it's busy though like at the beginning and end of the school year, or during flu season! When I'm in the health office, I typically see anywhere from 2- 20 students for minor issues. When I don't have a student, I work on immunization records, new student records, kindergarten requirement follow-ups, medication management, health screenings and follow-ups, asthma plans, diabetes plans, seizure plans, puberty education, health education, staff education, inventory/ordering, and planning for next year. I attend IEP's as requested and write IHP's for students with health-related IEP's.

When I'm not in the health office, I can field phone calls as needed, but typically the school secretaries are very good at handling the minor things. I have classroom teachers trained in medication administration for the daily scheduled medications. I think having them "handle things" 4 days a week at each building without a nurse cuts down on the nonsense visits from students a bit.
