I couldn't find anything on the upcoming semester at TJC for the LVN to RN bridge program so I decided to create one for all of us prospective. I have been an LVN for about 3 years graduated from Kilgore College in 2013, but for the past year completed Pre Reqs and have this hunger to go back for RN. I just completed the GAP test Tuesday 4/12 and am reviewing all of the papers to fill out. When I talked with the ladies in the office I was told that this year is more of Hybrid and noticed that there were 3 different classes on the admission for (I applied to all three just to open up my options). Im currently living in Arlington but plan to move back to Longview area at the end of the month since my lease will be complete. Are there any others out there who have already submitted applications back to the campus or any other information about how this program will operate?

I also applied to the bridge. I was accepted to TVCC bridge program but turned it down when I found TJC so that I could keep my current job. I have two small children so I like being off every holiday and weekend.

Moved to the LVN-to-RN Student forum.
do you know what else they are using to go by besides the GAP scores
Awesome im so ready for acceptance letters to come out and see what happens, I moved back home to Longview from Arlington, schools in the area there just make the process too much. Do yout know if they still have the program in Jacksonville campus
As far as I know the GAP is the only test that they use right now for the LVN to RN transition, I asked because 3 weeks prior I had taken the HESI A2 and scored a 92 overall

Hello!
did you guys get accepted? I know Im missing the Fall 2016 class but i'd like to know overall how difficult the admissions process is for LVN to RN so I can start the process for next class.
As far as I know TJC does three different transition programs- one at jacksonville, one at tyler, and then the hybrid program. the TVCC program required the hesi too and it was much easier than the GAP. TVCC also goes by grades too though. I think she said June 1st letters would go out. I looked into online programs like excelsior and couple others but I can't afford that kind of tuition. I'm not about to go into debt trying to get my rn.
Ok. Thanks for responding. I so badly wish that i applied in time for fall 2016. Now Im shooting for 2017. The only issue I have with applying to nursing schools is that beside the 3 main sciences (anatomy,Physiology, Micro) the prereqs can differ. And when you put all your eggs in one basket i.e. applying to only one school, you run that risk of missing other starting transitional classes at other colleges. I dont want to spend 30k on getting my RN either but I also HATE the waiting game, calculating points, and being waitlisted. It makes this process so bitter for me. I promise Im a good student though and I fare well where I work as an LPN. (PA) I'm relocating for school.
I completely understand where you are coming from, I moved to Arlington soon after finishing with LVN school and finished with the last 2 sciences so I started applying to schools around the area like ElCentro which wants everything verified online and would take to long for me to catch the deadline, and then at TCC which fell through because they wanted another part of the HESI which I didn't take together the first time and I just refused to retake it again after scoring a 92% the first time. I did look into Concorde and the Excelsior program but even with my prereqs completed I was told I was looking at aroung 25K for the year program and higher with Excelsior and I just don't want that Kind of debt. Since you are looking into next go around I was suggest to go ahead and finish with the sciences (Micro, A&P I and II) maybe Chem, as far as im seeing have Eng 1 and 2, Psych, Lifespan, and a fine arts to be sure and also Panola College in Carthage has just started a online bridge also just to expand opions. TJC and Panola from what I have been told are mainly focusing on GPA to meet standards (2.5) and then the GAP and HESI are the main deciding factors. we will get this one way or another and become RNs
Thanks a lot. I do have A and P I and II done, along with Intro to Psych and English but I have B's in my sciences (I had a 5 class course load @ the time). I can strive for A's for the remainder of the prereqs but I really wouldn't want to retake that A and P. Also the 1st A and P is at the 5 yrs old mark which some schools have a cut off for. I was going to try Navarro and TJC and hope for the best. My transcript says 3.125 GPA at the college I'm transferring my credits from even factoting in that I failed an Algebra II. I can just pray I get in the 1st try. Thanks.
