Hi there!! What were your points last time? What did you score on the HESI?
I am planning on applying for the Spring 2011 semester as well at Cy-Fair. I have to get one more credit in to get the full 4 points for my completed pre-reqs so I am taking my PE class the second half of the summer term and getting my micro class out of the way in the fall. I am keeping my fingers crossed that grades for the summer term will be posted just in time to make it for the application deadline.
I am super excited!
I had a B in both A&P classes, A in psych and A in Engl so I received 3.6pts for that. Then I scored 89.13 on the HESI Reading and 94 on the math so I received 3.5 pts there and then I have every single class completed so I received 4 pts for that...for a grand total of 11.1625. Essentially without at least an 11.5 there is no real chance at getting into Cy-Fair.
It all depends on the applicants that are applying at the same time you are that really determines but shooting for at least 11.5 will put you in a good position.
If I make the A in AP2 then it will bump me to 11.5 and I may retake the HESI Reading and increase my score there as well.
Good luck to you!
Yeah, I knew the cutoff for Cy-Fair was pretty high. I actually thought it was higher than that to be honest (but glad that it isn't ) As long as they post grades for my PE course this summer in time and I get a great score on the HESI, I think I will be golden (fingers crossed) I currently have a high A in my A&P II class and A's in all my other courses so I'm not too worried about the GPA points. Mainly it's just getting this class done on time that I am concerned about (1 freakin credit stands in my way!! UGH!!)
You got a great score in the math section of the HESI! I am pretty nervous about that part as my math skills are pretty rusty. Not using fractions for 10+ years will do that to ya I guess.
Good luck in your A&P class this summer!
I got accepted for this coming ADN term at cy-fair a weeks ago. I had all my co-recs completed and was working on my AS since I will go and get my bachelors in 2 or 3 years anyways. Yeah, you basically need all your points. get the 3 A's, and the extra 4 points for co-recs. Then score a decent score on the hesi English/language part. I would have made it into the last term if it wasn't for the act that I didn't think the 1 B in psyc would hold me back. If only i knew, i would have taken it the semester before the deadline (i could have done it easy). I ended up with a 11.277 or something like that. The cut of was like 11.4 because the alternate that was on the list made it in with a 11.3XX. If i retook the class, i would have defiantly made it in because i would have the score i have now (11.47xx) and make it in on my 2nd try and not my 3rd. That .3 points hurt me bad. Anywhoo, you will most likely make it the next time, as you have a beter hesi score than I do (I scored 86.96 on the english/language and 98 in the math). The math part is really easy. Stop by the library and check out the hesi study guide. I you cant stay long, go make some copies. It's REALLY easy!!

I didn't get in to ADN for Fall 2010. I have 2 B's and 1 A, which made my score 3.3, I have all 4 pts for pre-req's, and I made a 95.6 on the reading portion of the Hesi, which gave me a grand total of 11.1 pts. So, I'll be retaking Eng Comp I for an A this summer and applying to Kingwoods ADN program for the Spring 2011.
Does anyone know how many are accepted into Kingwoods program and what the cut off usually is?
Thangbom321: I think you may be intending to post in the one for Fall 2010. This thread is for those of us that are trying for the Spring 2011. I just did not want you to think no one was responding to your post about background checks because we are not at that step yet. :)
Thanks!

Okay, for all of us that did not get into the Lone Star Fall 2010 program and are trying again for the Spring...here we go again.
I'm retaking AP2 this summer (I have a B so now I want an A) to increase my points. After that I just don't know what else to do because I have all co-reqs completed, CPR done and Immunizations done. What are your plans to increase your chances of getting in for the Spring?
