TWU Spring 2018

Published

Hi!

I haven't seen a thread made for the TWU Spring 2018 application process, so decided to start one! I'm the type to worry, and I know I'm not alone, so what better place to vent than here? For anyone wondering, the application date for Spring 2018 is August 15th, 2017!

My GPA comes out to a 3.720 with TWU preference. I haven't taken my TEAs yet, but plan to soon.

How about y'all?

Hey AngNicole,

With the 49.3 points you have I think your in a good spot to get into the program. I would only consider to retake the Teas if you know you can make a better grade just to solidify your chance to get in.

For your bf, the 68 he got in English I don't think in anyway that would count against him. As long as the excel sheet says he has 50 points. That's the only thing that matters, I believe. Also I heard the science and math weighs more than reading and English. But I did hear that down the grapevine so it might not be true.

Yet, I would like to add that it's my opinion and if you want to hear your actual chances ask an advisor. Their very honest and straight forward. Right now they don't take appointments cause of summer but email them. That's what I did and they told me straight forward where I stand.

I plan on emailing them, but did you enter all your information or just send them your TEAS scores? I want to apply to Dallas, but if I have a better chance of getting into Houston, I'd do that instead...

Hey smbru,

The advisors have access to check your grades and teas score. Only if everything is sent and received by the school already. If that's the case, all they need is your student ID number and any questions or concerns you may have.

I'll try to PM you the advisor I recommend, if I can. I'm new to this nurse website í ½í¸…

I can't receive PMs or send them because I haven't posted 15 times... Or something like that. I'm assuming you're on the same boat haha! But I'll try emailing an advisor and hope I get the same one? Ha!

Hello! I am also applying to TWU's Spring 2018 program in Dallas. Here are my stats:

Nursing Core GPA: 4.0

Prerequisite GPA: 3.939

Composite TEAS score: 85

Previous bachelor's degree from UT, no TWU preference.

Total points on the excel sheet: 56

I'm super nervous about getting in. I have some quick questions regarding taking pathophysiology during the fall semester before the program starts.

First off, are we allowed to take pathophysiology anywhere? Or just TWU? I was planning on taking patho at Tarrant County College this fall, but I wasn't sure if we were only allowed to take it at TWU.

Second, how do I get started on registering for patho at TWU if I AM required to take it there? It asks for a department code and I don't have that. Can I obtain a dept. code without scheduling a phone advising appointment with a nursing advisor? Someone told me that we have to change our incoming year somehow to Fall 2017 instead of Spring 2018 if we are wanting to take patho in the fall... is that true for any of y'all who have already registered for it? Thank you in advance!

lpatel123,

As far as I know (I think I read this somewhere), Patho will ONLY count towards your TWU degree if it is taken at TWU. I "think". I'm pretty sure that you need to just talk to a nursing advisor for all of your questions. From what I've read on these TWU blogs, the nursing advisor can give you the code or have you fill out an Add/Drop form to register for Patho before actually being admitted to the nursing program. Mine had me do the Add/Drop form and then I had to email the registrar and change my admit date from Spring 2018 to Fall 2017 in order to be admitted into that class. Other students on here have mentioned that their advisor gave them the department code so they could register for the class themselves through Pioneer Portal or whatever it's called (but they would have had to been already admitted for the Fall 2017 semester).

I'm only giving you information that I've read on here, though. I think you should go ahead and make an appointment with an advisor. They might also be able to give you an idea of where you stand based on previous cohorts that got into the Dallas program.

Hope that helped!

Thank you, ldickerson! :) Hope we're classmates this upcoming Spring!

So if you guys are transferring to apply to nursing school, did you get an acceptance letter to TWU for transfer?

Just finished retaking my TEAS today and I got an 89.3!! With my nursing GPA at 3.72 that puts me at 49.67 points on the excel spreadsheet. Hoping this semester is like the others and the minimum is 48 points. Fingers crossed! Good luck to everyone, and I hope to see you all in class in the Spring!

Are we supposed to receive any type of notice or communication once we have applied? I applied about two weeks ago and haven't heard a word from twu which is unlike the other nursing schools(ut health, utmb).

Yeah I applied quite a while ago and never heard anything, I don't think they give you any kind of official update. Pioneer portal should show receipt of transcripts and nursing cas should confirm your application has been sent. Only thing you could call and check (which I did) is that they received your TEAS. Hopefully we'll receive some communication once the deadline is up.
