TWU Spring 2010

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Is anyone out there applying to TWU for the Spring of 2010? Just thought that I would start a group for all of us hopefuls so we could share information and have a way to communicate with each other.

Have you taken your HESI A2 yet? Have you taken all of your pre-reqs? If not, what do you have left to take?

I have taken all of my pre-reqs, and I just took my HESI yesterday. I didn't think it was bad at all, but I prepared for it for about 3 weeks.

If you haven't noticed, TWU has made some slight changes that I think some people will not be happy with. They are taking into consideration the first grade made at pre-req attempts for several of the classes like A&P, micro, and another class. What do you think of this? I wonder how it will change the applicants chances of getting in?

Good luck and I look forward to meeting you!

Hey - I was wondering what the average test grade for you guys in Patho Dallas usually is?

It's not Required to attend an open house is it? Also, is anyone using stafford subsidized/unsubsidized loans? I'm worried about registering because they said for registration nov.2 - Jan 12 is due Jan. 12 but funds don't postuntil 13th? So we would be kicked out of our classes and have to re register ? I hope it comes in before that. She also said refunds willbe on your card on the 15th but isn't that kinda late ? To buy books n stuff?

has anyone registered for classes already? If so, how did ya'll go about it?

We aren't allowed the register until Nov 16.I'm assuming we will have our packets by than.

Hey - I was wondering what the average test grade for you guys in Patho Dallas usually is?

She curves our test grade so that the class average is 80. The first test had a 20 pt curve, 2nd had a 15 pt, 3rd had a 20 pt. Grades range from like 50 to 105. There is a wide range of grades. There are usually not too many A's made on her tests.

]Hey guys! My name is Mayra and I "googled" TWU Spring 2010 and this forum popped up. LOL. I received my acceptance letter on 10/30/09 to the Dallas Center also :yeah: and I am super excited as many of you are! I wish I would've known about being able to take Patho while waiting to get accepted. I would have knocked that class out of the way. Anyways, I was at UTA taking pre-reqs for their program but as soon as I found out I got into TWU, I dropped out of UTA because the classes I was taking (CHEM 1451 & Concepts of Professional Nursing) will not transfer to TWU. I already took a CHEM that transferred...and the concepts class is not the same as the one we will be taking at TWU (I think---because concepts at UTA was a 2 credit course and TWU's is a 5 credit course). Plus, now I can work full-time until January 18th..then after that I think I'm gonna become a bartender :D ..just work weekends and focus on school during the week. What do ya'll think?

]So..where are we meeting this Friday??? I like J. Pepes also..it's right off da Hwy and medical district dr. Humperdink's sounds good too..

I was accepted to both UTA and TWU and I'm just curious as to why you selected TWU over UTA? Maybe that will help in my decision. Also, UTA has two Intro to Concepts Classes: one is 2 credits and the other is 3 credits.

Super Sweet, I received your message. I don't have 15 post yet, so I can't PM. I have not taken Patho yet, but being in the part time program should help. I live in the Frisco/Little Elm area. How about you?

Hey everyone, I just got my packet of information (for Dallas). I sent my faxed acceptance letter yesterday morning and the packet is already here. The orientation is going to be Dec. 11, which really sucks for those of us who are taking Patho this semester because it means we will HAVE to take our last test on Saturday because the orientation is from 8:30 to 2:00.

BTW, when you ladies get yours please review it and see if it says anything about a CPR class. I don't see anything about being CPR certified. I'm going to go look through it again.

that's great butterfly!! does it say everything that you have to buy? like the stethoscope and scrubs, etc...

also, who has already accepted twu as their school?

also my advisor told me this: "a bsn and a bs with a major in nursing is the same thing. one is not better than the other. different schools use different acronyms for their degrees."

No Goopsy, it doesn't say anything about that. I has a document about their drug policy, information about background search, information about the vaccinations, but really nothing much else. It seems we will be getting most of that type of information at orientation I guess.

Butterfly Journey when did you send in the confirnation sheet? and did you get the packet today?

does anybody know how many hours of clinicals is equal to 1 semester hour of credit at twu?

for example, at ut health science center, 1 hour of lecture per week is equal to 1 credit hour, or 3 hours of clinical experience per week is equal to 1 credit hour, or 2 hours of seminar per week is equal to 1 credit hour
