TWU Spring 2010

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Is anyone out there applying to TWU for the Spring of 2010? Just thought that I would start a group for all of us hopefuls so we could share information and have a way to communicate with each other.

Have you taken your HESI A2 yet? Have you taken all of your pre-reqs? If not, what do you have left to take?

I have taken all of my pre-reqs, and I just took my HESI yesterday. I didn't think it was bad at all, but I prepared for it for about 3 weeks.

If you haven't noticed, TWU has made some slight changes that I think some people will not be happy with. They are taking into consideration the first grade made at pre-req attempts for several of the classes like A&P, micro, and another class. What do you think of this? I wonder how it will change the applicants chances of getting in?

Good luck and I look forward to meeting you!

hey! yes, I heard something similar. It was from the interim associate Dean. She told me that as long as I had above a 75 average on the HESI per the TWU policy, that it didn't matter what grade I had! That really suprised me. The reason she told me that is because I was discussing with her the issues I had with the HESI exam not giving me the critical thinking and all that fuss of the HESI messing up everyone's grades. I blew it off thinking she was just the interim assoc. Dean and didn't know much. But I'm worried now that some else has heard this!! The rumor was supposed to be that the HESI counts more than the NET did, which was 20%, but it seems now to not even be counted at all. I really thought I had a fair chance, but now I'm not so sure if they are just going to take the GPA. Had I known this, I would have retaken gov. 1, which I was on the fence about retaking, since I made a B in it.

I have a feeling that Wednesday is the day!!! I'm ready. I'm not scared or nervous anymore, but I just want to find out. Ha, I say that now, but I'll probably freak out when I actually see that letter in the mail. I'm thinking acceptance emails go out Tuesday, and letters are received on Wednesday.

Ok, you guys! This is it for us, I guess. I will pray for all of us. Also, if anyone gets an email/letter, please post so we know to check the mail!

Well hmm. They have been saying that ur GPA is worth 80% and the Hesi score is worth 20% when they are deciding who to accept so that actually sounds about right, but i don't see how the hesi wouldnt help u at all ,at least a little bit. That is interesting.

Thanks AnnyLPC! :nuke:

I called and they put me through to an advisor. I had to leave a message.

does anyone know if they send out acceptance emails for the traditional program for sure? i don't think i saw anybody say anything about them on the previous TWU threads, but i read them a long time ago

We don't know yet,we were all just hoping they are since they did that with the weekend program 2 weeks ago,so they probably will with us.If they do,they must have just started doing this because I don't think they sent emails to those that got accepted and mailed letters out in the past application periods either.

Thanks for trying! Hopefully she gives you a call back today

Hey everyone!! I've been lurking around this thread for months now! So I decided to finally register and show myself, haha :) I applied to 4 different schools, but TWU is def my first choice. I attended the Open House this past Saturday at the Houston Center and fell in love even more! I can't wait to find out! Hopefully that letter comes in the mail this week for all of us! Good luck to everyone! :)

AnnyLPC did you ever get a call back?

Or has anyone else heard anything about the traditional BS program?

I spoke with a counselor. She said if you applied to the weekend program and haven't heard by now-then you didn't get in. So, I didn't get in. My GPA is "low" so I am guessing that is the reason. I have an appt scheduled next week to talk to them about why I didn't get in and what I can do about it. :o

Good luck to everyone else.

I'm sorry to hear that AnnyLPC!
