TWU Spring 2010

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Is anyone out there applying to TWU for the Spring of 2010? Just thought that I would start a group for all of us hopefuls so we could share information and have a way to communicate with each other.

Have you taken your HESI A2 yet? Have you taken all of your pre-reqs? If not, what do you have left to take?

I have taken all of my pre-reqs, and I just took my HESI yesterday. I didn't think it was bad at all, but I prepared for it for about 3 weeks.

If you haven't noticed, TWU has made some slight changes that I think some people will not be happy with. They are taking into consideration the first grade made at pre-req attempts for several of the classes like A&P, micro, and another class. What do you think of this? I wonder how it will change the applicants chances of getting in?

Good luck and I look forward to meeting you!

Is anyone hoping to get into the weekend program?

"I was sitting on the left side, facing the front. I was about 5 rows back. I have pretty short reddish hair. I have a gray hoodie that I bring with me because I get cold too! I also bring my laptop, a white Macbook."

Yes, I saw you!!!I saw you with your laptop and was wondering if I should bring mine too!

"I was looking around trying to figure out who you guys could be, but couldn't figure out a good way to tell other than saying loudly "Goopsy? Butterfly Journey??? Where are you guys??!" and that just would have been silly. :)"

LOL...I was thinking the same thing...if I should just say loudly "elizabelle?? butterfly journey??" and then have the whole class stare at me as if I was crazy hehe.

"Hopefully it's good news, because my birthday is 11/06, and it would be great to celebrate getting in along with my birthday!!!"

I hope so too!

OK, I just FREAKED out!!!! I went to the mailbox and there was letter in there addressed to "my name" and Family from TWU. I almost had a heart attack. Yes, seriously for a split second I was like "THEY ALREADY DECIDED????"

I got the same letter haha. The first line said "Congratulations!" I freaked out when I saw that and thought "no way..." I wish it has been the acceptance lol.

Jwoods....plasma is also trying for the weekend program!

Specializes in ER.

I have applied to the weekend program.

Elizabelle, I too thought about just yelling out "Goopsy, Elizabelle where are you?". But then I usually sit with my "guy" friends and they would have looked at me like I was possessed. :) We'll definately have to get together next class and meet each other.

Goopsy, that "Congratulations" word on that letter can really throw you. I can't tell you all the thoughts that went through my head when I got it. Oh well, hopefully the next 2 months will go quickly.

Are either of you having trouble getting motivated to study. I think because I know that we don't have class next week and I'm going out of town for a wedding that my brain is taking a vacation (probably more like burnout) and doesn't want to study. It probably doesn't help that I'm not working and the other class I'm taking is online. So I'm around the house alot. I'm not used to that. I'm finding every excuse to clean things around my house (since it was neglected over the loooooong summer I had) and haven't picked up that book once. Hopefully today the urge will strike me. :)

Chow for now.

I haven't touched my Patho book. :-) I have been planning my daughter's first birthday party for this Sunday, so I probably won't even start until Monday. I work part-time from home, so I should have plenty of opportunities to fit in some studying. To be honest, I wasn't ready to even start back to school this semester, after the summer! So I appreciate this long weekend, and having a break before our next class, and I am going to take advantage of it!

you know what? i am still waiting on my book to come in the mail! I ordered it about a week ago, and it should be here today. I, too, am having trouble getting motivated. With labor day coming up, it feels like it is still summer. I am taking online sociology (for UTA) and intro to professional nursing online (for UTA), which starts on sept 21.

I don't know how you guys are keeping busy but atleast I have UTA to take my mind off of TWU. I went to a nursing interview Q&A a couple of nights ago for them, and interview letters should go out in about a week and a half, so that will keep my mind off of TWU. UTA's deadline was Jun 1!!!!!!!!!!!!! forever ago, and it has actually gone pretty fast, so I know October/November will come before we know it.

Goopsy, if you get in to both TWU and UTA what are going to pick? I thought about trying for UTA but there were classes that I was going to have to take that would mean I would have to go to school this semester (like 14 hours credit) in order to even apply, so I'm happy with how I planned it with TWU. Not to mention, I don't know where UTA does their clinicals, but I'm sure it's way to far for me to drive.

i really dont know which one. Im trying not to pick either one before i know which 1 I was accepted to because i dont want to get my hopes up. both are excellent. twu is closer for sure. My husband and I dont want to move, but would if we had to in order to be closer to UTA.

jwoods...I'm applying to the weekend program. I called up today...they said about 100 peeps applied.

Goopsy did you end up taking the test...if so how'd it go? Everything is clear on my end...I called today to see if they got the corrected results...and they did!

awesome plasma...I should have called them to double check as well. Ill check on Tuesday. I did end up taking it on Monday the 31st. It all went well, thanks for asking! How many people get accepted to the weekend program? is it 30?

I asked a couple months back...I believe Katie said 25...I hope I am one of them! When you apply for the weekend program, and you don't make it, they give you a shot at the spring semester. I don't know which one would be better. I don't know if I want to work and go to school on the weekend, and even if it is feasible. I have two small kids, age 4 and 3, and a full time job. We were thinking if I get accepted to the weekend program, I might quit my job....but I don't know if I want to quit my job...I enjoy it very much! So many decisions to make...I want the best of all worlds!
