Starting this for anyone thinking about applying to Texas Women's University's Nursing program for Spring 2019. Even though it seems like a long time from now it's never too early to start preparing to apply:happy:
Is anyone else prepping for the TEAS or has already taken it?
I never received an availability email but I contacted TWU and they said they have everything for my application and I am verified so hopefully I am being considered.
Also I can not figure out how to check the status of my application in NursingCas. I emailed NursingCas and they said my application has been verified so I shouldn't need to view it. On TWUs website it says all descisions will be sent through NursingCas. Do y'all know if we will get an email when they send a desicsion? How will we be contacted?
I just found out that acceptance/denial emails will be sent out at the end of October. It is probable that will be October 29, as someone has mentioned that they usually send out on a Monday. Also, someone has mentioned that TWU sends these out in waves based on your last name. Let's hope and pray for the best! I am wishing all of you the best of luck and hope that you get your seat as you deserve it!
There will be a mandatory orientation for the Houston campus on December 7, so try to plan around this if you feel you are an eligible candidate.
Is anyone new to Houston and moving just for nursing school? If so, does anyone have any information/resources for family housing? What are the decent areas that are safe and affordable? Will anyone commute from other areas, such as Pearland or Clearlake?
One more question, is anyone planning on starting the program as a new mom?
I am hoping I get accepted this round-I applied for Spring 2018 and got waitlisted for Houston. I was #15 on the waitlist and then bumped to #9, so I didn't make it. My stats were 3.7 nursing core gpa and 85 on TEAS.. I retook TEAS only to get 86 and reapplied for Spring 2019 but this time around my husband and I have a newborn baby. I really don't want to postpone my degree any longer, so I think it is important to find a good support group of moms. Hope this info helps someone.. I know there is a lot of anxiety going around-the waiting game is so hard, especially if you are into planning!
I've been following this board and finally decided to post. I'm super nervous about the upcoming decisions. I have a previous degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences and did pediatric speech therapy for 3 years before deciding to go into nursing. TWU Houston is the only program I applied to and I can't wait until we find out!
Here are my stats
Nursing Core GPA 3.7
Pre Req GPA 3.6
TEAS 84.0
Previous Bachelor's Degree
Total Points 47.13
Hopefully we find out soon!
Hi guys, I've been keeping up with this forum for a while now and decided to post my stats:
I have a 4.0 GPA and made an overall 80 on TEAS (I'm not great at standardized testing)
I have no previous bump so my admission score is a 44.07
I applied to the Houston campus but I am feeling a bit discouraged from reading that someone applied to the Houston campus and didn't make it with a higher TEAS than me. The section that really brought my grade down was the Reading section. Does anyone have any tips on the Reading section or know any affordable tutors around the area?

When i talked to an advisor this week, she said acceptance letters are going out the first week in November. They had so many applications that it's taking them forever to process. Fingers crossed that it's not November! I'm planning to reapply for Fall 2019 since I didn't make it in this time around because of transcript issues with nursingcas.
