Aaaaalriiighty! With the large volume of nursing students who applied for TWU this Fall semester and the very few amount of drop outs, it's time to start up the Spring 2017 applicants forum topic!! I'm one of the waitlisters who didn't make it into the Fall 2016 Dallas nursing program, but definitely had competitive scores.

For reference I had a GPA of 3.86 (3.68 nursing core) and a TEAS score of an 87 (top 3%). That left me with a total of 47.7 points (43.83 for Spring 2017, but I'll explain).

Now keep in mind that this semester TWU will no longer be looking at cumulative GPAs, but only the nursing core GPA. Other than that, the change in the Program Materials on the Nursing CAS application, and that you don't need to send a transcript to NursingCAS, there have been no major changes to note for the Spring 2017 semester.

Also, to those who either scored less than me or have a lower GPA don't let that discourage you. Last application cycle was a weird one with close to triple the amount of Honor's students (HS=guaranteed acceptance) and an unusually low declination return. Last Spring, the lowest accepted student had about 43.1 points. Which equates to about a 3.6 GPA and an 82-85 TEAS. If you can hit that ballpark you're in a good spot. Also, since there was such a high percentage of HS for Fall 2016 it's likely that there will be a much lower HS Spring turnout.

Stats for the Fall 2016 accepted students

Dallas lowest accepted: 51.1pts (40 HS)

Houston lowest accepted: 35pts

Now be advised that there is a full 20 points given to any TWU student with 32+ credit hours. That means if you're a TWU student with 32+ you've got great chances. Now for you transfer students (such as myself), I advise studying your tail end off for that TEAS in order to be competitive. It's not impossible, but it is improbable if you don't produce excellent returns.

Let me know if you have any questions about the application process or how the point system works and I'll be glad to answer. I spent hours researching and talking with advisors, so I've gotta lot of slick info in my book. Also, I'll probably post the actual calculator excel spreadsheet they use for calculating points later, so you can play around with it.

Also I would recommend taking Patho in the fall if you get accepted....I am taking it now and it's killing me:,(

No way, I'm currently taking patho right now as well. The final is this friday/saturday

"kait_dod: No she had no bump or bachelors! In fact, she goes to NCTC! That is so strange that you got waitlisted with those scores"

Is there any way to appeal or request a revision? I am so devastated and confused right now

Hi all! I was planning on applying in the Spring of 2017 to TWU. Im not sure of my exact GPA for science but its around a 3.4. I plan on taking the TEAS sometime in June. I have 3 weeks to study, so I am hoping to get a good score. I am a bit nervous about applying, but I have in whatever the outcome is. Good luck to everyone! I am retaking my Chemistry class because I received a C in it (unacceptable).

I am planning on applying to Spring 2017 to TWU Houston

My GPA is also 3.4 and I am taking the TEAS on June 29th!

I am nervous as well haha

Teas: 82.7

Nursing Core GPA: 3.56

PREREQ GPA: 3.67

Hello Azon,

Have you applied to Nursing Cas? If so, did you have to manually input your transcript scores for TWU 2017 admission. It states that it is not required for this admission.

If the application is due by August 15, does that mean that we get an earlier response on who gets accepted? In previous admission cycles, the application was due by September 1. I hope so.

Great stats! I hope mines can get me into the program. Reading was my lowest =(

Thank you!

Are you applying to Houston or Dallas?

Your stats are beyond amazing!

So the application cycle for Spring 2017 is up, but is anyone else having a problem with NursignCAS not loading the ADD PROGRAM tab to apply?

Unfortunately my plans have changed. I did not notice that we had to have life span done at the time of the application and I am barely taking it in the fall :/ such a bummer. I cant take it in the summer because im taking A&P2 and a couple of other classes I need to apply to Sam. Good luck to everyone that is applying for the Spring!

Ouch! Sorry about that!

Its ok! Ill still be applying to other places that do not require life span to be done at the time turning in the application.(:

WOW!!! All I have to say is God is good! I spoke to one of my counselors and I was able to get in one of the Life Span classes so it looks like ill be able to apply to the Spring of 2017 after all! Yay! I have never been happier to start a class LOL.
