Aaaaalriiighty! With the large volume of nursing students who applied for TWU this Fall semester and the very few amount of drop outs, it's time to start up the Spring 2017 applicants forum topic!! I'm one of the waitlisters who didn't make it into the Fall 2016 Dallas nursing program, but definitely had competitive scores.

For reference I had a GPA of 3.86 (3.68 nursing core) and a TEAS score of an 87 (top 3%). That left me with a total of 47.7 points (43.83 for Spring 2017, but I'll explain).

Now keep in mind that this semester TWU will no longer be looking at cumulative GPAs, but only the nursing core GPA. Other than that, the change in the Program Materials on the Nursing CAS application, and that you don't need to send a transcript to NursingCAS, there have been no major changes to note for the Spring 2017 semester.

Also, to those who either scored less than me or have a lower GPA don't let that discourage you. Last application cycle was a weird one with close to triple the amount of Honor's students (HS=guaranteed acceptance) and an unusually low declination return. Last Spring, the lowest accepted student had about 43.1 points. Which equates to about a 3.6 GPA and an 82-85 TEAS. If you can hit that ballpark you're in a good spot. Also, since there was such a high percentage of HS for Fall 2016 it's likely that there will be a much lower HS Spring turnout.

Stats for the Fall 2016 accepted students

Dallas lowest accepted: 51.1pts (40 HS)

Houston lowest accepted: 35pts

Now be advised that there is a full 20 points given to any TWU student with 32+ credit hours. That means if you're a TWU student with 32+ you've got great chances. Now for you transfer students (such as myself), I advise studying your tail end off for that TEAS in order to be competitive. It's not impossible, but it is improbable if you don't produce excellent returns.

Let me know if you have any questions about the application process or how the point system works and I'll be glad to answer. I spent hours researching and talking with advisors, so I've gotta lot of slick info in my book. Also, I'll probably post the actual calculator excel spreadsheet they use for calculating points later, so you can play around with it.

I just got an email saying I'm eligible for consideration hopefully that means something good but I also got an interview with u of h second degree program

It just means they received and processed your application. It doesn't mean anything!! It DOES mean, however, that they are still processing applications/:

At least you know that they have looked at your application! Nothing here yet.

Yeah I know I don't think I'm getting in :/ unless by a miracle

@tia_jean - why do you think that? If you dont mind me asking what did you score on your teas?

I have like a 3.2 sciences and 3.3 something in pre req but 80 on teas and also have a bachelors but it' sucks they don't go by the overall gpa because I had a 3.76

Has anyone else gotten the emails? I still haven't received one. For those who have received an email, when did you submit your application?

I sent my application on mid July and got the consideration email on August 25.

I submitted my application July 18 and received notification that it was processed on September 12

I submitted mines on August 13th and I received my eligibility email on September 12th. It's possible they are going by last name. Everyone in sure will get their email by the end of next week

I submitted mine around 8/13 a well and I received an email on 9/2. It may be by last name, I'm at the beginning of the alphabet fyi.

Well I received an email from TWU and it was not what I expected. They are saying I am missing 2 classes (6 credits), so I am not eligible to continue with the application process. I am devastated. The only little hope I have is that they may have made a mistake in my transcript somehow. I have a week to respond, otherwise I am out for the application period. :/ Has this happened to anyone before? I talked to an adviser at my school and got the green light to apply and now this ! :s I am so bummed.
