Aaaaalriiighty! With the large volume of nursing students who applied for TWU this Fall semester and the very few amount of drop outs, it's time to start up the Spring 2017 applicants forum topic!! I'm one of the waitlisters who didn't make it into the Fall 2016 Dallas nursing program, but definitely had competitive scores.

For reference I had a GPA of 3.86 (3.68 nursing core) and a TEAS score of an 87 (top 3%). That left me with a total of 47.7 points (43.83 for Spring 2017, but I'll explain).

Now keep in mind that this semester TWU will no longer be looking at cumulative GPAs, but only the nursing core GPA. Other than that, the change in the Program Materials on the Nursing CAS application, and that you don't need to send a transcript to NursingCAS, there have been no major changes to note for the Spring 2017 semester.

Also, to those who either scored less than me or have a lower GPA don't let that discourage you. Last application cycle was a weird one with close to triple the amount of Honor's students (HS=guaranteed acceptance) and an unusually low declination return. Last Spring, the lowest accepted student had about 43.1 points. Which equates to about a 3.6 GPA and an 82-85 TEAS. If you can hit that ballpark you're in a good spot. Also, since there was such a high percentage of HS for Fall 2016 it's likely that there will be a much lower HS Spring turnout.

Stats for the Fall 2016 accepted students

Dallas lowest accepted: 51.1pts (40 HS)

Houston lowest accepted: 35pts

Now be advised that there is a full 20 points given to any TWU student with 32+ credit hours. That means if you're a TWU student with 32+ you've got great chances. Now for you transfer students (such as myself), I advise studying your tail end off for that TEAS in order to be competitive. It's not impossible, but it is improbable if you don't produce excellent returns.

Let me know if you have any questions about the application process or how the point system works and I'll be glad to answer. I spent hours researching and talking with advisors, so I've gotta lot of slick info in my book. Also, I'll probably post the actual calculator excel spreadsheet they use for calculating points later, so you can play around with it.

Hi all! The TWU Nursing staff has been getting phone calls about information shared on AllNurses.com, so we wanted to answer some questions here in hopes of clearing up any confusion.

We aren't processing applications in any particular order. It's not by last name, by NursingCAS application submission date, or by TWU admission date. There are several of us processing applications at the same time, so we each take a chunk of the alphabet so that we don't stumble over each other as we work.

We are working as quickly as possible and are nearing the end of processing. (Woohoo!) That being said, please refrain from scheduling appointments, calling, or emailing to ask how competitive your application is. We simply won't know until we're done with everyone's application.

All notifications about your application will go to whatever email address you used to sign up for NursingCAS, so make sure to check your email (even the spam/junk folder!).

We wish you all the best of luck! :)

Sooo had anyone heard a specific date or an estimated date that we should get an email about acceptance (or rejection, but hopefully not)?? In the email I received from TWU telling me I am eligible to be considered they said middle-late september, but I was just wondering if anyone has heard sometime more specific??

Applicants for Spring 2017 admission to upper-division nursing!!!

All applications have been processed (YAY!), but we need to wait one week to deal with students who have last minute eligibility concerns.

Throughout application processing, applicants were sent emails (sent to the email address listed in their NursingCAS accounts) to indicate whether they are eligible for consideration, ineligible, or requesting information about remaining courses so that we can determine eligibility.

If you receive an email and feel that it is incorrect, you must respond within a week of the date the email was sent. (You can respond by hitting "reply" to that email, even though it says "donotreply" for the sender address.)

If you have not heard ANY communication concerning the status of your application, please call the College of Nursing at 940-898-2401 or [email protected].

We hope to send out acceptance emails by next Friday.

Thank you so much for the update!

Yea! Thank you for the update! I just received my email yesterday that I am eligible for consideration.

8 more days! Good luck to everyone.

I'm so excited guys! I wish us all the best of luck! I didn't get in the last round so I'm hoping I have a chance this time!!!
