Aaaaalriiighty! With the large volume of nursing students who applied for TWU this Fall semester and the very few amount of drop outs, it's time to start up the Spring 2017 applicants forum topic!! I'm one of the waitlisters who didn't make it into the Fall 2016 Dallas nursing program, but definitely had competitive scores.
For reference I had a GPA of 3.86 (3.68 nursing core) and a TEAS score of an 87 (top 3%). That left me with a total of 47.7 points (43.83 for Spring 2017, but I'll explain).
Now keep in mind that this semester TWU will no longer be looking at cumulative GPAs, but only the nursing core GPA. Other than that, the change in the Program Materials on the Nursing CAS application, and that you don't need to send a transcript to NursingCAS, there have been no major changes to note for the Spring 2017 semester.
Also, to those who either scored less than me or have a lower GPA don't let that discourage you. Last application cycle was a weird one with close to triple the amount of Honor's students (HS=guaranteed acceptance) and an unusually low declination return. Last Spring, the lowest accepted student had about 43.1 points. Which equates to about a 3.6 GPA and an 82-85 TEAS. If you can hit that ballpark you're in a good spot. Also, since there was such a high percentage of HS for Fall 2016 it's likely that there will be a much lower HS Spring turnout.
Stats for the Fall 2016 accepted students
Dallas lowest accepted: 51.1pts (40 HS)
Houston lowest accepted: 35pts
Now be advised that there is a full 20 points given to any TWU student with 32+ credit hours. That means if you're a TWU student with 32+ you've got great chances. Now for you transfer students (such as myself), I advise studying your tail end off for that TEAS in order to be competitive. It's not impossible, but it is improbable if you don't produce excellent returns.
Let me know if you have any questions about the application process or how the point system works and I'll be glad to answer. I spent hours researching and talking with advisors, so I've gotta lot of slick info in my book. Also, I'll probably post the actual calculator excel spreadsheet they use for calculating points later, so you can play around with it.
Also when calculated using the chart, I acquired 50.89 points
Hi! Welcome :) I had 50 point something lay semester and was wait listed. I was told that due to changes and accepting only nursing core GPA it would be easier. I also believe spring is easier to get into than fall. I wouldn't worry too much with your stats. I think 120 is their capacity
To CommittedtoNurse: Wow that's crazy! Do you know what number you were in regards to the waitlist? Ours are similar and I pray that we get in this semester! When I talked to my advisor a few days ago she told me that the average entry score was about 45 points. But hearing about last semester really startled me! Thank you for your reply and kind words.

I'm second on the waitlist. My advisor told me that this fall semester was just randomly crazy and unexpected so it probably won't happen again but who knows. They accepted so many honors students so I'm hoping there's less this semester. I had a 3.987 GPA and 3.96 nursing GPA and an 88 on teas!
I have a question about my transcripts and I was wondering if someone could help me answer it. I finished my last Summer 2016 semester class on August 12 and the teacher still hasn't posted the grade. Should I still send my transcripts and hope for the best or not even try. The application deadline is tomorrow. I've e-mailed my teacher to see if he could input my grade but I have yet to receive a response. What do you guys think?
Well hopefully this year will be different and I will be seeing you in the Spring :) We got this! I just hate the waiting game lol I have to be positive about this or I'm going to pull my hair out.

Yes, I believe that includes all classes. Just request that your transcript is sent as soon as grades post, and as long as it is there by September 1st, you're good to go. I am taking Microbiology right now and my grade probably won't post until August 22nd, so I can't send my transcript until then.

Anyone know an estimated date or time frame they think acceptance letters will be sent out? Just wondering! So anxious
