TWU Spring 2013 Applicants!

Hello!:yeah:

I know it's pretty early to be starting this forum, but I just wanted to put my voice out there and see if there is anyone else out there hoping to join TWU's nursing program in the spring of 2013? What are you taking this semester (spring 2012), and when are you taking the TEAS-V entrance exam?

After this spring semester of taking microbiology, chemistry, developmental psychology, and statistics, I'll be ready to apply before the September 1st deadline! I'm hoping to take the entrance exam in the summer - probably June or July.

So yeah, I just wanted to see who else was out there!

To everyone that has already applied to the school through ApplyTexas, I have a couple questions.

1.) If you have a previous degree and are applying for the accelerated program, what application type do you select? The options are Freshman, Transfer, Transient, Re-Admit undergraduate, and Graduate.

2.) They make you pick a first choice and a second choice for school and major, is what you pick as your second choice just an arbitrary selection?

You should apply as a transfer student since you have records to transfer.

I think I only picked nursing for option 1.

I'm taking patho in Denton in fall also. :)

I'm back to say that I am done with this semester!!! I can leave TCC behind and begin mu classes at TWU. Aced my classes and ready to move onto the next thing but before that I'm going to relax with my family this week and not think about school. Starting next week I'll start studying for the entrance exam. How's everyone else doing?! How are classes going and hopefully the end of classes is near for everyone? I'm nervous about this exam because I don't want to screw up! Has anyone started to study yet? Does anyone know if there are set calendar dates for the exam to be taken on? Just wondering. I have an appointment to talk to the nursing counselor but that's not for another 3 wks. :/ thought I'd ask. :)

See some of you in the fall for patho! We can do this! Hope everyone is well.

Congrats on finishing this semester! I'm almost done...only three finals left and my last one on Tuesday! :) I haven't begun to study for the TEAS yet, but I'm going to as soon as finals are over. As far as I can tell, there aren't set calendar dates - you can pick any day as long as they have that spot open. And I'm assuming if you register with enough advance, they'll have whatever spot you wish to take open ;)

Hey guys! Omgsh it's taken me so long to finally post on this site! I've been reading these since last year! Lol and I finally made an account. I applied to TWU for the fall but couldn't get in because I didn't have my microbiology and statistics finished before the application deadline on FEB. 1st. I just finished those classes and I am finished with my pre-reqs! I'm appliying for the Spring 2013 to the Houston campus. I've already taken my TEAS test and I'm going to take Patho in the fall at the Houston campus. I'm so excited! Are there any Houston people out there too? All I've seen on this forum is Denton or Dallas peeps. I'm glad we are all in this together! :)

How did your finals go though I bet they went great! I started to study in the math portion and I think it's been too long since I've taken any math courses. =/ It completely escaped my brain except the addition and such. Percents really stumped me. Hopefully by end of the month I'll re-jog my memory and it'll all come back to me. =) I was wondering if you've registered for the nursing program yet through pioneer portal? Is that just part of the application process?

Hi Malloryann!! Glad of you to join us. =) At some point I just lurked around these forums. haha. I love reading them because they're very informational in the long run. How was microbiology and stats for you? I really enjoyed micro but I can't say much for stats. I passed...that's all it matters. I am also done with my pre-reqs. Yay for us! BUT I'm retaking hist II over the summer to hopefully make that an A. Shouldn't be too difficult..I hope. hehe. Were you taking preqs at the Houston campus or at a local college? I finished mines at a local college...not heavy on the wallet. How was your TEAS test? Would you mind giving us any pointers and what study guide you used to study from? We'd greatly appreciate it. =)

I loved microbiology and I took stats online. I took them both at a local college around where I live and got A's in both. The TEAS test was harder than the HESI that I took for UTHSC. I got a 77 on the TEAS, which I think is pretty good so I'm not going to take it again. For the study guide, I just went to the ATI website and bought the book straight from there. I studied it alot and it was pretty helpful. The TEAS test was more detailed than the HESI and I ran out of time on the Math. The TEAS don't give you a calulator to use like the HESI did. Overall, I think the TEAS was a harder test but it was still ok. I didn't study super hard tho. I have a degree already from Texas A&M in education and just needed to take my sciences and take my TEAS and I'm finally done! Lol

Finals went super well, and I'm just SO excited I'm done with this semester! Finally, after two years, I have all my pre-reqs done for nursing school, wahoo!!

I haven't applied yet to the nursing program. I keep thinking I need to wait until I finish my TEAS, but I guess I don't have to...and yeah it's a part of the application process. :) I haven't started studying for the TEAS yet but I'm going to make it a goal of mine to open that book by the end of this week, and study hard!

When do you think you'll be taking it?

Isn't it awesome to be done with the pre-reqs?? It's such a load lifted off. :) At least that's how I feel. Welcome to the board, glad you're here!

Stats:

GPA: 4.0

First Attempt Grades: all A's

TEAS-V: ? I'll know when I take it in July? August?
