Hey guys! I wanted to start a forum for us twu spring 2012 hopefuls!
About me
I have a 3.2, yikes! :sofahider, and after this summer it should come up to a 3.6 or 7 and I am studying my butt off for the teas and will only have 3 more classes after that to take. I have gotten into the university as the first step, but I am so worried about getting into the nursing program, fingers crossed
Well it has been a few weeks since I have been on but it is great to hear of new hopefuls! Unfortunately, I will not be considered for admittance into TWU's nursing program this Spring. I freaked myself out taking the TEAS and scored 62% I will just have to strenghten my timed test skills because I can easiliy get discouraged. I am going to rent chemistry and biology books before I retake it for the fall. That science portion was VERY difficult for me, but there were some easy questions, however, majority difficult. The other sections were pretty basic to me, but I still wish to be WELL-prepared to score an outstanding score the second time. It sucks because I completed all my science courses with A's (except for a&p2 lab I got a C) so I have a 3.86 with the bump a 4.2. If only they could consider students with good GPA's even if they failed the exam by two pts!! But I have to just gain confidence in myself and retake the exam prob around Christmas break. Good luck to all the hopefuls :)
Welcome livelough,
This is the first time that I hear someone fails the exam after me:)Maybe there are lots of people fail the exam, but they don't write here. I will take it around same time with you. But mine is the third time. I am the worst. Don't worry you ll do it. first time I got 62 as well. Second time i got 60....It goes tru worse, but I have still little bit hope. This time I ll take my time, and ll do it!
Hi everyone,
I have applied for Dallas BSN too, my gpa is 4.0 with A's in science classes, no gpa bump. I got 82% in teas. But I have heard people score in 90's and there are 600 applications for every semester. My fingers are crossed. Is anyone taking pathophysiology at Dallas campus right now with Dr. Mcarthur???? Any suggestions, how is this class? I'm finding it way too hard. Is this class challenging or it is just me....
@Tina, I am taking Dr. Mcarthur's class right now too on Mondays. I was reading today, and now my brain is tired lol. There is FAR more information in that book than we need to know. I think we will know for sure how difficult it will be when we get to experience the first 100 of our "opportunities" on the exam. I am nervous too. I have a 3.94, no bump, A's in sciences, and 94 on TEAS. I wish it was mid-October already so the wait would be over! Maybe we can be study buddies :) The first couple of chapters have just been a review of everything I learned in A&P, but with more terminology and more insight into pathogenicity. I hope it doesn't get any more difficult than these chapters are!
Hey Texas_girl,
I'm also in Dr. Mcarthur's class. IT's good to know that we are in same class :) . I'm sure you are definetly in the program. I'm just little nervous. The first chapter was pretty much A & P. Chapter 15 is tiring though. God knows how hard 100 opportunities will be.... I have absolutely no idea of her exam patterns. I sent an email to our professor about her study material becuase it's ALOT in the book as compare to what we covered in class. I was pretty shocked . Sh.e expects us to emphasize on things covered in class which mean know them all..... I felt we should have covered in further detail. I'm compeletly new to this field. I'm finding it pretty challenging. I'm sure we can be study buddies. Girl, let me know where do you sit in class. I will see you on monday. :):)
Hello there everyone! Remind me again who is applying to TWU Houston?
I went up there yesterday and actually got a tour from a very nice counselor. I met several instructors, IT and resource people, the coordinator, etc. Everyone seems incredibly nice. Their simulation labs are incredible! The lady who does the labs for the MSN-NP program had a break and showed me around all the labs. It was an altogether great experience, and I really like the place. Only sort of irritated with the sidewalk construction between TWU and the Dryden-TMC lightrail station. I suppose next time I go up there I will get off at UT Houston. Anyone else visited the Houston location? What did you think?
@saraiish I'm not 100% sure. I kind of had no idea what I was doing, I just walked in. The lady in the info center on the 1st floor was like well, we don't just let people tour the building, so I was like, well, I'm accepted into TWU already, just not the nursing program, so she sends me upstairs to get a student ID. The lady that got me my student ID seemed reluctant, and didn't understand why I needed it (I didn't either, tbh). As I was walking out, I asked a counselor that was walking around if there was a bookstore. She told me unfortunately no, and asked why I needed it. I said I just had never been there and wanted to do something. She was like, "well I'm not doing anything! I'll show you around!" So she did. I think if it wouldn't have been for her, I wouldn't have been able to do much of anything. She took me in the sim labs and introduced me to everyone. Never even said her name. :/ Super nice lady though. I might've just gotten lucky, but it doesn't hurt to try to go up there.

I am so anxious about the waiting period! According to other people's posts, less people apply in Spring. I made an 85 on the TEAS and my struggle was the reading. Probably because I don't read all the material and just answer the questions as fast as I can. @ Ranaz, I would go with the advice given and take your time and do the practice tests. They do help:) Good luck everyone!
