Published

Just about a year early here, but I wanted to create a thread for Fall 2019 applicants. This is my first time joining a nursing forum; so, let's give it a shot.

Thanks. I just hope it's good enough. I work full-time and cannot attend a traditional program. This is the only program in DFW that will work for me. Wishing you luck with everything! Have you talked to any of the advisors about your concerns?

Same here! I have an advising appt on the 25th and I will speak with an advisor then. I know its "hard" to get in without any preference points, but im def hoping my points will be "high" enough this go around! I also work full time, married, and have a 3, soon to be 4yr old and its the only program I applied to

I'm applying to the Houston campus.. kind of nervous. I just submitted my application. Anyone know if this is considered competitive? or if I should apply again.

I applied for Fall 2018 evening/weekend program and didn't get in. I had 3.7 GPA 87.3 TEAS and 45 pts (no twu preference or BA bump) I decided to retake A&P 2 and stats and boost my 2 B's to A's. If i finish this semester with an A in each course it will boost my GPA to 4.0, im not retaking the TEAs and by boosting my GPA it will boost my admission score from 45pts to 51pts. I am hoping this is competitive enough to get me in this time around. Just thought I would share my information in case i'm able to help anyone

This was the same score I had in 2018 and got into the Nights and Weekend program. good luck Bree hope to see you in May.

Hi All,

I have been following this thread for a while now and decided to hop in. I took the TEAS yesterday and I am very disappointed with my scores. I have to admit tho, I only studied for a week before taking the exam. Do you guys think the below scores will help me get accepted into the Houston campus or am I just wasting my time?

TEAS Overall - 76.7%

Reading - 74.5%

Math - 96.9%

Science - 66%

English - 66.7%

Science GPA- 3.88

Prerequisites GPA - 3.88

TWU score - 33.63 :(

Thanks in advance for your opinions!

Retook the TEAS Dec 21 at TWU and did a lot better. Waited a couple weeks for all my transcripts to be received by NursingCAS and submitted my application Jan 5th. TWU transcripts though were received in 4 days for me. Hoping my application is all verified now by Feb 1st.

Nursing Core GPA: 3.86

Prerequisites GPA: 3.92

TWU Preference: Yes

TEAS: Composite - 95.3%

  • -Reading 91.5%
  • -Math 100%
  • Science 93.6%
  • English 91.5%

Admission Score: 75.54

My score jumped so much from the TEAS exam, definitely glad I retook it. Just going to visit an adviser again to verify that everything is on file and complete. Good luck everyone! When in doubt always ask questions!

Hi there,

Great stats! If you don't mind sharing, what did you use to study for the TEAS? Especially the Reading and English sections? Thanks!

It has been tough but fun, this semester we are taking 12 hours and have two clinical sites placements. Its a lot of info and a lot of work but very rewarding. Seems like time is flying by fast, 4 more semester to go.

did you take patho in the summer or took it during the fall when the program started?

Is there anyone here who has not applied yet? I am taking my teas next week. Super nervous about it :(

So far here are my stats:

Nursing Core: 4.0

PreReq: 4.0

Previous Bachelors degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from UT Dallas.

I really hope I can do well on the TEAS!

have you already submitted all your info to NursingCas? they can be a little slow and you want to make sure your application is verified by the deadline
