TWU Nursing Applicants - Fall 2019

Published

Just about a year early here, but I wanted to create a thread for Fall 2019 applicants. This is my first time joining a nursing forum; so, let's give it a shot.

Hi everyone!!

I just took my TEAS exam this morning and it went a lot better than I thought, thank goodness.

I'm applying for the Dallas traditional program and these are my specs!

No TWU bump but I have a previous bachelor's degree.

Nursing GPA: 3.69

Prereq GPA: 3.69

TEAS overall: 94.7

Reading: 89.4

Math: 100.0

Science: 97.9

English: 91.7

Overall score: 62.85

Wishing everyone luck!!!

Wow!!! Those are awesome stats!! I plan to take my TEAS at the end of the month. So what material did you study??

To be honest, I didn't have much time to study for the teas between studying for finals and working full time so I only had about three days to cram everything.

The only material I used were the ati teas secrets study guide from mometrix which I got off of amazon and a&p ppts from when I was taking that class!

I would say to focus most on getting your a&p stuff down!! Reading through the a&p review section of the study guide while highlighting and making notes helped to reinforce the information. When I felt something was vague or wanted a visual, I pulled up my old a&p slides for reference.

Definitely make sure to review grammar rules for the english section and for reading, doing the practice tests helped the most to get used to the types of questions they ask. Get familiar with analyzing author's tone/purpose and knowing what style of writing is being used!

You got this and good luck!!

I havent taken the teas yet. I know the deadline is Feb 1. But how late can I apply? Would I be too late if i apply mid January? Will it affect my application?

the only way to be "late" is to apply after the deadline. They don't look at applications until after Feb 1st

so glad this site is back up! how did the TEAS go for everyone? has everyone applied?

Retook the TEAS Dec 21 at TWU and did a lot better. Waited a couple weeks for all my transcripts to be received by NursingCAS and submitted my application Jan 5th. TWU transcripts though were received in 4 days for me. Hoping my application is all verified now by Feb 1st.

Nursing Core GPA: 3.86

Prerequisites GPA: 3.92

TWU Preference: Yes

TEAS: Composite - 95.3%

  • -Reading 91.5%
  • -Math 100%
  • Science 93.6%
  • English 91.5%

Admission Score: 75.54

My score jumped so much from the TEAS exam, definitely glad I retook it. Just going to visit an adviser again to verify that everything is on file and complete. Good luck everyone! When in doubt always ask questions!

You did great! Which campus are you applying to?

who's all applying to the evening/weekend program?

Hi everyone! So glad this site is back up! I took the TEAS this past Saturday and submitted my application. I didn't do as well on the TEAS as I wanted to. I wanted to score higher in Science. I am meeting with an advisor next week to see if I should retake it before the deadline (even though I really don't want to). I am applying to the night and weekend program. Here are my stats:

Nursing Core GPA: 3.84

Prerequisite GPA: 3.57

TEAS Composite: 88.7

Prior Bachelor's Bump: Yes

Admission Score: 56.63

Thanks. I just hope it's good enough. I work full-time and cannot attend a traditional program. This is the only program in DFW that will work for me. Wishing you luck with everything! Have you talked to any of the advisors about your concerns?
