TWU Nursing Applicants - Fall 2019

Just about a year early here, but I wanted to create a thread for Fall 2019 applicants. This is my first time joining a nursing forum; so, let's give it a shot.

"I just finished up my first semester in the night and weekend program. The first semester we had 3 classes (pharm, patho, assessment). Patho is completely online and you can take it in the summer. If you take it over the summer, you will only have 2 classes your first semester. Pharm was a hybrid class. We had class about 2 Tuesdays a month (5:30-7:30) and the rest was completely online. You listen to pre-recorded lectures at home and the class time is used for going over the harder material and testing. Assessment was every Saturday - 8 AM to 4 PM (lecture and lab). We had a couple Saturdays off, but not many (Ex: Sat. after Thanksgiving). Next semester we will have 3 classes. One is completely online and the other 2 we have both lecture and a clinical for the class. We have class every Tuesday and Friday 5:30-8:30 PM , a 7 hour clinical on Saturdays, and a 12 hour clinical every other Sunday. Please keep in mind that this could change for incoming classes. I just wanted to share my experience so you kind of have an idea of what it might look like for you."

hey, i found this on the NursingCas website in regarding to verified apps:
"Your NursingCAS application must be verified by the February 1, 2019 application deadline in order to be eligible for consideration.
Once all documentation is received by NursingCAS, staff will verify the grades entered/earned. If your application is not verified by the application deadline, it will not be considered."

Hello all! I have been following this thread for awhile now. Good to finally see some responses! I wondered my self about the verification of the application on nursingCAS and this is what I found on their website:

"Please note: NursingCAS will continue to process any materials that arrive and will make them available to your designated programs. As long as you have submitted your application by their deadline then your transcripts with your final grades will be available to their admissions/nursing staff as soon as they are processed."

I also sent an email to TWU nursing just to verify. I also met with an advisor back in April of 2018 and she emailed me some documents. One included steps to fill out an application in nusringCAS. The document also says that TWU didn't require you to send you transcripts to nursingCAS….However, the TWU website says otherwise... so confusing!

Yes I have that same document that says you don't have to enter your transcripts on NursingCAS. Heather Close sent it to me after an information session in November 2017. I think a lot changed after she left because several of the documents and things she said have been refuted by the advisor I have been working with since the fall. I emailed NursingCAS today and they said it depends on the program if they want the application verified by the deadline. I emailed TWU to double check.

Heard back from TWU in record time... You do not have to be verified by 2/1. Here's the exact response: No, just have to make sure you listed your coursework and all transcripts in by Feb. 1

Heather close is no longer there?!? I didn’t know that and I wondered how verification worked... I copied what I found from NursingCas BUT I know on the spring 2019 post a lot of people were saying their application wasn’t verified by 2-1 and a lot of them were still accepted into the program

Yup, she is no longer there. I emailed her last August and got a message back saying she no longer worked there and to contact another adviser.

And that’s reassuring about the Spring 2019 applicants. I’d like to think mine will be verified before the deadline, but I’m sure they are probably backed up.

Hmmm that’s probably why I haven’t seen anyone from “TWU ADMIN” post on this site in awhile...I know she used to post helpful info here...

Does anyone know when we will hear back for acceptance or denial for Fall 2019 traditional programs?

someone posted yesterday and said for traditional they were told by an advisor they hope to send out decisions the fri before spring break i believe. "usually" it seems to be the week after spring break, but maybe it will be sooner this cycle...i really hope its "sooner" LOL
