TWU Houston Fall 2009

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I could not for the life of me find a thread for people who were going to be going to Houston in the fall, so here we go.

I was going out for the fast track 2009 in Dallas, got denied and put back in the fall applicant pool, then BAM:D, got hit with the shocker last night when I got home from work that I had been accepted to the regular BSN program in Houston.

I'm really excited to start a new chapter and I thought this would be a good way to meet other members of the class before we get there. So shout out where you're from and your background so we can all get to know each other before August!

(P.S.- I've also been accepted to the community college in my hometown, which is closer, cheaper, and probably going to be easier, but I think it would be borderline offensive to turn down such an awesome offer, let me know what you think)

Are you guys all looking into rooming together? I was trying to get a one bedroom, but from what i'm hearing everywhere its gonna be hella expensive. Hey for the life of me i can't find the paper telling me the instructions for friday can anyone help me out with what building we go to or whatever the paper says?

hey kelli, welcome to the club. So we're all in agreement...looking at apartments right after orientation? Yall wanna do lunch right before or do they provide lunch during the orientation?

ksnurse19, welcome to join us. I have been to the building and there is one building for TWU nursing. I do not know the room number but I think there is a guy who sits at front; he can tell us where to go.

Ruchita and R33sa, it is awesome that you guys find some awesome places to look around. I kinda put deposit down on a one bedroom apartment at Meyergrove. It is a little far from the medical center, about 4 miles. However it looks pretty safe to me on the web. I guess if worst thing happens, all i lost is the deposit, which was not that much. The cost for that one bedroom apartment is $655.

So did you visit the apartments before or have you just looked at it from the web??

And just wondering have any of you guys checked out craigslist.com?

i know I just looked at it from the web...however the application fee was not expensive, so I was like mind as well as to secure one spot for me first. I'm still interested looking around for apt after orientation. Like I said, I didn't sign the lease or anything... all I lost is just that application fee.

Ruchita I'm taking the a lot out for my loan since I have a lot of bills and stuff to pay. Whatever I don't use will go towards paying off the loan. Whatever I get from the fasa will mean more extra money I have for living expenses and stuff

OK! So who all lives in Houston right now and who all is relocating from somewhere else? I'm thinking about moving down there a little sooner so that I can get used to the area and try to make some friends/a life before I dont have one anymore when we start!!

p.s. who else is super excited about finding out about classes n stuff?? I feel like a preschooler about to start first day of classes! lol if only it was that easy!

sophia, the kirby one looked reallly nice.. cause i actually went there. i like it.. however its only cheaper if three people stay there, and if not then lanesborough is good for two people.

kelli, you wont find any apt around medcenter for less than 1000, it would be a good idea to have a roomie..! i wanna stay at arcadian and i think so might r33sa, we still have room for one..i think? unless sophia will cancel her app. there..

i think its a best idea to find a roomie right now, so when its apt lookin time, you know what your lookin for as far as price and rooms. cause you and the roomie has to agree on the price range and what not. i have actually went to almost every apt near med center, so if you see one you like, ask me, i most prolly have been to it.. lol and looks can be deceiving for apt.

craiglist is good, however its hard to trust them, knowing that there are alot of frauds that happen.

i live in houston!

princess, i couldnt get the wells fargo loan, ima be applying for chase, but ima have to wait til my fafsa, cause i dont want to get a loan that wont be enough. sucks man

Murse, lunch after the session sounds good. I'm pretty sure ill be hungry after the session. I doubt that they give us lunch there. Then afterwards, we can go look at the different apartments. So who all is gonna look for apartments afterwards? hopefully we can all find each other...lol

That's great that you found an apartment Sophia... i have been reading alot of good reviews about Meyergrove. Hope everything works out for u.

Ksnurse...I live in houston but am like about an hour away from the med center with traffic. are you looking to room by yourself or with other people? b/c if you are looking for roomates...mayb we can all room together. Its like the more people, the cheaper the price...hopefully. lol. And i'm suppperrr excited about friday too. I can't believe i'm saying this but i'm ready to start school. i bet i won't be saying later on though. lol

i just cant wait to move out, and have a place to call my own.. i mean our own. lol. we wont have to drive soo much to get home, and if we forgot somethin, its right there to where we can turn back around and grab it, even to take them quick naps..! yippppppie i cant wait

r33sa i soo wish they had apts with like 5 bedrooms and what not. lol

so who all is bringing someone? i dont wanna be the only one, lol and will they be coming to look at the apts as well?
