TWU Fall 2010

Published

Is anyone out there applying to TWU for the Fall of 2010? I got this idea from a previous thread and thought I should get one started for this semester, so that we can help each other and communicate with each other?

I have taken the Hesi-A2 and got a 74.8 on it so they didn't even look at my application. I live on campus so any help or information I can give just let me know. I'm excited and feel good about this deadline.

Good luck and I look forward to meeting you!

TXcatcher --- I know how you feel!! (My sister does that movie thing she's always like "No, I don't care if you ruin it for me!" lol)

I actually just got off the phone with the program coordinator in Houston. (I don't want to put names, but her name is on the e-mail for those who got accepted to Houston.)

She said this:

1. Information packets will not be sent out until she has the list of WHO TO SEND THEM TO. She said Denton will not send the list to her until after the deadline to accept your offer of admission. So the packets will not be sent out until after March 24 (the deadline).

2. Houston does off Patho in the summer. The difference b/w Houston and Dallas is that Dallas students can take Patho before they even know if they're in the program or not, such as the ones already taking it this semester... but for Houston students you need to be accepted already. She said there's an information session (or something, she kind of mumbled and people kept texting me so my phone kept beeping at me cutting her off!) in May and that for those interested in taking Patho in the summer it will be taken care of then.

3. She told me congratulations and everything, SHE'S SO NICE! The fact that she's so friendly made me even more excited, lol..

Also, for the STARS thing... It says on the website that the deadline was extended. It doesn't say why but at least people who forgot to apply or something can get it done! :)

Does anyone know how to tell if they received your fax/email/mail about which campus you intend to attend/accept admission form?

I am new to the site but I am so excited! I also got accepted to the Houston campus! I can't wait to get started. I have been waiting for this for so long! Hopefully we will all get to know each other more soon! :D

Well, just to let you know. I plan to set up a little happy hour gathering in mid August b/4 we get started. I will keep you guys informed when it gets closer to time. I am also having something this Saturday. You guys are welcome to come.

I want it bad: I know you want it bad, I do too! You will get in, just stay prayerful and keep yourself occupied. Your grades/scores are excellent and there is still plenty of time for additional letter/emails to be sent. Remember, patience is a virtue!!

You could e-mail asking if they received it but it might be faster to call.. I just looked up the number for the office we had to fax to and asked the girl who answered to check if they had received my fax. She was nice about it, I'm sure a lot of people called to ask.

I think the number is (940)898-2401 but if that's not it you should be able to find it on Pioneer Portal, that's how I found it. Sorry, cuz I called STARS and the program coordinator so I have a bunch of numbers in my phone lol but I think that's the right one.

Congrats to all who got accepted! I just got my letter of acceptance woooohoooo!!

"I want it BAD" - just keep trying, you may be waitlisted so a spot may open up.

I think someone asked about the difference between UTHSC and TWU.. my boyfriend went to UTHSC and he hated it with a passion. He and about 90% of his classmates advised me NOT to go to their school. Supposedly it's full of politics and they weed students out like they want you to fail. A lot of drama has happened with his class and they all didn't want me to go there. I've spoken to a few alumni about TWU and they all have said how the professors are very supportive of them. But keep in mind that this is from the people I've talked to, so just take it for what it is... they can't speak for all.

Anyone here going to Dallas?

Sounds like a lot of yall have a degree already. As for me, I just have my associates from Wharton County Junior College. However, I do have a 4.0 in all my science classes and nursing core classes. As for my overall GPA from WCJC, it is a 3.864 and my Hesi is 86.9. I hope this helps anyone who is still waiting to hear something.

I

I actually re-took my core classes. My undergrad GPA was a 2.65 (back in 06). Now, with all of the courses I took over, it's a 3.8. My Hesi is 88. I think my science is around 3.25 or something. It took ALOT of time and hard work, but I am living proof that if you work hard and don't lose sight of your goals you will be rewarded. Anybody else heard anything yet?

Oh, and did anybody decide if and when were gonna meet up for happy hour?

My undergrad GPA from A&M is below a 2.5. I did not try for that degree. I was in college for six years majoring in boys and beer...instead of biology, general studies, education, history, and sociology (all five of my majors). After a year and half working in social work - which was never, ever my goal in life - my dad saw how miserable I was and told me to quit and go back to school. (My dad is awesome!) Luckily, I hadn't taken any of the prerequisite science classes, with the exception of chemistry, so I was able to bust my butt and get A's in those (including chem, which I'd previously failed twice). I had done pretty well in govt & hist classes, so I only retook one govt class. That made my prereq GPA 3.83, with my only B's being in one govt and one hist class...so yay for second chances!!! I actually thought that my previous bad behavior would hold me back for the rest of my life...

Anywho, I am so down for Happy Hour! Just let me know the time and place!

@txnurstud

definitely! i know you can do it... i was working full-time and had a nursing newborn when i started going back to school. it was definitely a challenge, but i got through it and so will you. good luck with your pre-reqs....it will be so worth it for us in the end!

I am ready for happy hour anytime!!!:smiley_aa
