TWU Fall 2017 Nursing Applicants

Published

Hi all,

I've decided to go ahead and start this thread for those who are in the process of applying for the HIGHLY COMPETITIVE nursing program at TWU (FALL 2017) Feel free to share your STATS, questions, and good vibes as we're all here to get accepted!

I'm personally interested in the Night/weekend program since I already have a bachelor's degree and I just finished my TWU application (since TWU requires you submit a "new student" application first, then the Nursing application) I am planning on submitting my nursing application right after I hear back..

I also have not yet taken my TEAS, but am in the process of studying for it to take in a couple weeks!

How's everyone else doing?

Hello Everyone,

I am new to this forum but wanted to contribute my stats. I am a transfer student at TWU from TCC. I have already taken Patho and had gotten an A so, TWU is my top choice school. However, seeing that I am a transfer, I don't qualify for the bump and I don't have a prior degree either. So I am really NERVOUS that I might not stand a chance with others but still cross fingers for me! Below, you can see my stats and I am really upset about my English score on the TEAS. I was aiming for all As on each section but I guess I am stuck with it! I wish best of luck to everyone who is applying!

Applying to Dallas/Traditional

Nursing GPA-3.7

TEAS Composite-97%

Reading-91.5%

Math-100%

Science-100%

English-83.3%

EXCEL POINTS-53.50 :nailbiting: see the English section brought my points down! :(

Just got an email.

Ms. Close says acceptances may go out as early as today.

Most Likely Wednesday.

*ensue panic*

OMG i can hear my heat beating!! this week is going to be KILLER, omg, I hope I get in!!!!

Awesome! I'm off from work today, so naturally I'll be checking my emails every 5secs. I'm sure they're waiting on everyone who needs to respond back to administration about their apps this week. That means the earlier they get their responses in, the earlier we can know!

THats probably why she said "as early as today, and most likely Wednesday" ... as soon as they get everyone's responses- it's as fast as ranking everyone and sending out emails! Whoooo

Hello, future nurses!

Just checking in again. If all goes according to plan, acceptance letters could go out as early as today, but we're thinking it will be closer to Wednesday. We're still waiting on a few students' responses about their applications.

Remember: remain calm while you wait! Take deep breaths, do some yoga, meditate, think about clouds.

Best of luck to each of you. :)

Thank You so much for checking in with us!!! You are seriously the best ever! Having such a transparent and helpful admissions team has really made TWU stand out to me, and I am sure others, who have applied to multiple schools!!!!

I have never contributed, just lurked ;-D and I figure I should get in on the action here and give something back. I wanted to thank all the people who take their time to contribute--I would never have known about the points system without out you and I would be officially freaking out right now if I did not have you all to confirm that acceptance letters just have not gone out yet.

My stats:

4.0 GPA everything since A- counts as an A

TEAS:

94% overall

Reading: 95.7

Math: 96.9

Science: 91.5

English: 95.8

I have a prior B.A. so my total points were 69.30.

I felt there was no way to study for all the Science and so I did not, relying on the work I did in my Pre-reqs to help me; it did. There were more than a few Chemistry questions on my exam. I bought the practice TEAS tests from ATI and studied the information I did not know (math) at the Khan Academy website. My advanced 7th grader could do all of the math in the book except for formulas he had not been introduced to; if you are rusty (like me) refresh. The formulas for conversions were given on the test and a calculator was available but it was not as helpful as I thought it would be based on the way the tests are written.

I live in Houston and have applied to TWU here; I did not apply to UT Health because I have children and I felt that 16 months with no break was more appropriate for those with either more support than I have or no kids at all. TWU is a great school, however, not a second choice and as it is the ONLY program I applied for, I really hope to be admitted.

I'm so nervous. Hoping to get in. My grades are awesome but not teas scores were average. Yet I'm still remaining positive and having faith I'll get in. Been trying to do homework to stay busy but I keep getting distracted thinking about it. Lol

Make it a happy Monday for everyone!!!! Good luck and good vibes to everyone!!!!!!

I don't think i anticipated anything like this before.

Good luck everyone!!!.

Good luck to everyone! Really hoping today is the day! :nailbiting:
