I've decided to go ahead and start this thread for those who are in the process of applying for the HIGHLY COMPETITIVE nursing program at TWU (FALL 2017) Feel free to share your STATS, questions, and good vibes as we're all here to get accepted!

I'm personally interested in the Night/weekend program since I already have a bachelor's degree and I just finished my TWU application (since TWU requires you submit a "new student" application first, then the Nursing application) I am planning on submitting my nursing application right after I hear back..

I also have not yet taken my TEAS, but am in the process of studying for it to take in a couple weeks!

How's everyone else doing?

UPDATE::

1) Finished my TWU application for new students and just waiting on their response to see if I'm accepted as a transfer to get my upper division nursing application going!

2) I just used the TWU GPA calculation form provided on their website to see exactly where my chances might be for the program and my STATS were as follows:

Nursing Core GPA: 3.85

Prerequisite GPA: 3.65

3) Just found out I will need to take Developmental Psychology (Lifespan Development) this wintermester to complete my nursing core pre-reqs.

Question: Does anyone know how we can calculate our "ranking points" for this program? I've heard that applications are "ranked" according to points you earn for GPA, TEAS exam scores, etc.

There's a grade worksheet, I do not remember my exact stats, but when I filled everything in, towards the bottom in really light gray it gives you your points. I have 51.5. My application is complete, and I have been admitted to TWU, now I am studying for the TEAS. I will apply after I take the exam.

I should add I am applying to the Houston program.

Oh okay, I think I just noticed it. It's displayed as a tiny little grey number at the bottom right of the excel sheet. My points totaled 60.97 (however, I still need to take the TEAS and enter in my grade for Developmental pscyh) I'm applying to the Dallas Campus based program.

If I may, I applied once before with the TWU Bump/Previous Bachelors to TWU Dallas. I had talked to an advisor at the Denton campus and she told me that if I had applied to Houston rather than Dallas, I would have for sure have gotten in. Even though I consider Dallas my home, Houston is where we should all apply. Many of us who didn't get into Dallas this past application period would agree with me. It is much EASIER to get into Houston, regardless of it being the Fall or Spring application. I am just saying this as a caution, if you do not want to waste money, apply to Houston rather than Dallas. I looked into it and Houston is surrounded by many reputable hospitals including Texas Children's Hospital, Texas Medical Center, Houston Methodist, & MD Anderson. These hospitals are some of the best known in the country, especially MD Anderson & Houston Methodist! ALSO, Nursing school is just 2 years! Even if you do not like Houston, it's not like you will be there forever. 2 years will fly by just like that! ANOTHER THING, people without the TWU Bump/Bachelors will NOT get into Dallas, even with a 4.0 GPA and good TEAS scores. My advisor told me they almost never have a chance at Dallas, but definitely do with Houston. I hope this helps!

This is scary as well as re-assuring! An advisor told me to go ahead and apply due to already holding a bachelors and therefore, I would be in a different "applicant pool". However, I didn't realize the Dallas campus was THAT much more competitive! So we're you admitted to Thur Houston campus if you don't mind me asking? Or did you attend another school?

As I said, I applied to TWU Dallas for Spring 2017 with the bump, but I was not admitted. When I went in last month to talk to my advisor, she told me my points would have gotten me into Houston, if I had just applied. I believe regardless of having the 32 hours or previous bachelors, you are put in the same group. After talking to my advisor, I realized that 2 years really isn't that much and I can always come back to Dallas after completing my bachelors. It would be terrible of me to just waste money when I already know I am guaranteed into Houston. In the end, you still graduate from TWU.

True! In the end, TWU is a great program in itself to graduate from. Wish you the best of luck! What were your stats when applying to Dallas with a previous b.s (if you don't mind sharing)? I'm curious to know whether I'll have a shot bc I haven't yet submitted my application before feb 1st.

Stats:

3.9 nursing core and I haven't taken the TEAS but what is considered a competitive score?

3.8 GPA and 88% composite score. I feel like the TEAS has to be higher for Dallas. I know on their website it says 64% or higher, but people clearly aim for the highest score possible. I hope I haven't completely discouraged you. It's just, I don't want anyone else to experience the pain of not getting in... Maybe the night/weekend program is different, but you are making a gamble when applying to Dallas, unlike Houston.

There is no Night/Weekend program in Houston. I am applying here because I live about a block away from the school and it is a good program. However, if you want to stay in Dallas, why not apply to Baylor? It's a 12 month intensive program, and it has amazing financial aid opportunities to cover the cost.
