TWU Fall 2017 Nursing Applicants

Published

Hi all,

I've decided to go ahead and start this thread for those who are in the process of applying for the HIGHLY COMPETITIVE nursing program at TWU (FALL 2017) Feel free to share your STATS, questions, and good vibes as we're all here to get accepted!

I'm personally interested in the Night/weekend program since I already have a bachelor's degree and I just finished my TWU application (since TWU requires you submit a "new student" application first, then the Nursing application) I am planning on submitting my nursing application right after I hear back..

I also have not yet taken my TEAS, but am in the process of studying for it to take in a couple weeks!

How's everyone else doing?

I am applying to Baylor, as well as SFA & Texas Tech. Like I said, most Nursing programs are no more than 2 years long. It won't matter too much because the time will fly by just like that. I do not know if I will get into Baylor because they are also very competitive, but I did not know about the financial aid.

Hi all, I just applied to TWU Dallas (last week,) and these are my stats as follows: Nursing core gpa- 3.8

TEAS score:

Overall- 86

Math- 84

Science- 93

Reading- 85

English- 79

Also after calculating my gpa from the worksheet twu provides us with, I saw that I have a total of 62.33 points which gives me TWU preference (no clue what this means honestly)

Anyways hoping these scores are good enough to get me into Dallas, as I know they are super competitive. Goodluck to you all!

Hello everyone!! My name is Veronica.

I also submitted my application in December. I'm very nervous as i was reading through some past forums and i saw some people get wait-listed with slightly better stats than me. But i believe it all depends on the season and how competitive that particular semester is.

Don't have the exact stats in from of me right now but my nursing core and prereq GPAs are in the 3.6-3.8 range. And I scored a 83 overall on the TEAS (Reading- 83%, Math- 93.8%, Science- 74.5%, English- 79.2%). That put me in the 92nd percentile which i thought was pretty good, but i'm a little worried it's not enough.

I considered re taking the TEAS bc one girl with similar GPA and a TEAS score of 85 was wait-listed last year and that makes me very nervous. TWU is pretty much my only option bc they have the weekend evening program and i work full time as an insurance agent. I can't wait until March to find out and I'm keeping my fingers crossed! best of luck to everyone! :)

wow! i a 93 in science?!

I worked my butt off on the science prereqs and got an A in every class but nutrition and i still barely passed the science part which brought my score down to an 83 overall. If you don't mind me asking, what as your science portion like? I didn't have a single earth science question, and about 80% of that section was really tough, really detailed anatomy and physiology questions. I couldn't believe how hard it was! and that was after using the TEAS study guide and several practice tests. What did you study with?!

Hello everyone!

I am applying for Houston TWU. This are my score for Fall 2017

Nursing Core gpa: 3.72

TEAS:80% over all

  1. Reading 80.9
  2. Science 80.9
  3. Math 84.4
  4. English 75

Also Prior Bachelor

I was very upset about my TEAS score (I took it yesterday). I am considering retaking it. I only studied for 2 weeks. What

do you guys think? *although my brain hurts*

WHat are your total points on the GPA worksheet? Input these grades and see what your points total is.

Also which campus are you applying to?

@pappa22v

I am applying to Houston. Points? it says 52 but when i input my scores it

doesn't change. Where it says By Exam it says 0. Not sure what i am doing wrong.

By Exam means if you have gotten course credit by a CLEP exam.

You put all of your scores in and then it did not change? You have to fill out the whole little TEAS section. Also, make sure you are inputting the correct column one is for courses taken at TWU and one is for those transferred in. It sounds to me like you have done everything correctly. Since they use a rank system, I have heard of much lower points values being accepted. I would not worry. My scores were comparable to yours, and I have 51.79 points. It isn't worth the stress or money for me to retake the exam. And, I feel confident in my points total.

Your stats are good. I would only retake it if I knew for a FACT that i would do better than before b/c they take your most recent score NOT your highest. Also calculate ur points on their website. What did u use to study for the TEAS? Im taking it this months any tips?

I bought the ATI study guide, but I did not use it. I went in cold turkey and received an 82.7% composite.

You didn't get in with a 3.8, 88 on the TEAS, AND the TWU and prior bachelors bump?!

You didn't get in with a 3.8, 88 TEAS, AND the TWU/prior bachelor's bump?! How is that even possible? The TWU bump alone is 20 points!
