TWU Fall 2011 Hopefuls

Published

Hello! Just wanted to start a thread for those applying to the college of Nursing at Texas Woman's University. Who already goes there? What do you have left to take? Are you nervous... etc!

My name is Alli, I will start at TWU, not the nursing program, this summer. Moving to Denton with my husband. I can't wait!

I called the Denton campus on Friday and the lady I spoke to said the letters would go out the first week of April.

Thanks for letting us know. Sheesh, first week of April...that feels so far away! I should pass the time by getting up to date on my shots as a show of good faith!

Could you please tell me what shots need to be up to date or where I can find a list of them? Thanks

this semester of letters have taken longer than ever. i was hoping before spring break. then the week after (today) then it was by april first and now its the first week of april. UGH im so tired of waiting. it must be a very competitive pool or two people working on these decisions (very short staff). either way anxiety is building and i have a patho test coming up...lol

Here's the info on immunizations, folks. Scroll down to see what's required for health sciences.

http://www.twu.edu/student-health-services/immunizations.asp

These are what's needed for basically any nursing program, so go ahead and get started if you haven't already! Most people probably have some already (usually have to show proof of MMR and maybe even TdaP in K-12, right?) but the Hepatitis series in particular takes several months to complete---so at least get your first dose soon.

when do we find out?

I received my acceptance letter by mail on 3/12/11. Then the email a week after. But i was away since then. I will be at Dallas campus wkend programme.

Wish everyone who is waiting all the best!!

BTW Is there someone who can sell me there patho book? i want to take it this summer.

Thanks.

Hey hopefuls! Just wanted to check in to let you know that the Weekend Program applications are always processed first, and those applications are done being processed. Anyone who has received an acceptance letter at this point applied to the Weekend Program. No acceptance letters for the traditional programs in Dallas or Houston have been sent. The Denton office IS short staffed - there are currently only 2 people available to process ALL the applications for Dallas AND Houston. They are working as hard and as fast as they can, but obviously, carefully to make sure no mistakes are made.

KEEP CHECKING YOUR TWU EMAIL - DON'T FORWARD IT TO ANOTHER EMAIL ACCOUNT.

Even at this point, there can still be issues with your application that may need your attention. The first week of April is still looking like it's when the acceptance letters/emails will go out. You'll get your initial acceptance letter from the Denton Nursing Office and you'll need to confirm your acceptance with Denton. After all of the confirmations have been received in Denton, then they send the names of the accepted/confirmed students to the campuses (Dallas or Houston). Then the campus you've been accepted to will send you another acceptance letter along with more detailed information about starting the program. I'm not sure how Houston does their acceptance packets, but Dallas no longer mails anything - it is all via TWU email. I know, because I send them all out! =] So Dallas accepted students will need to keep checking that TWU email.

Also, if you don't get an acceptance letter, there may still be a slim chance you could get a spot in the program. If anyone declines from the time the acceptance letters are sent from Denton up until right before classes begin, the available spaces will be offered to the next eligible applicants. It doesn't happen often, and when it does, it's only a few spaces, but it would be a shame to miss it. Again, any communiction will be sent to your TWU email address.

Hope this helps and hang in there!

Thank you twudallasadvisor. Great info & update!

Ok I just want to make sure I am getting this right because I have recently moved and for some reason my mail keeps getting lost by the post office :crying2: The Nursing School acceptance letters from Denton are coming by email right?! I just don't want to miss the opportunity to accept/deny if I never receive the information. That would be....devastating.

Thanks Advisor! It's great to hear something official-ish :) I just want to say that I would be happy to volunteer my time in the Denton office and assist with the processing of applications! :)

***** check your twu email account

**** i just received the following email from twu:

the college of nursing (con) at texas woman's university in denton has received your application for upper division nursing. however, your application cannot be processed at this time for the following reason:

you are either currently enrolled in, or we have no evidence of you ever completing, all courses in the nursing core (currently enrolled in microbiology). the nursing core courses are required to be completed with a posted grade before the application deadline. if you have completed these courses, twu has not received updated transcripts indicating such, and those transcripts would have needed to be received prior to the february 1, 2011 deadline.

you may reapply by the september 1, 2011 deadline for spring 2012 entry into the nursing program. please make sure that all required courses are complete and that we receive updated transcripts with the posted grades prior to sept. 1st.

if you believe this information is incorrect, you must respond to this email via email by 5pm, wednesday, march 30, 2011 - five (5) business days from the date of this email.
