TWU Fall 2020 Applicants

Updated:   Published

Hey there. I plan on applying to TWUs N&W program in February for the Fall 2020 start. I just took my TEAS test today, my score was:

Overall: 85.3%

Reading: 87.2%

Math: 96.9%

Science: 74.5%

English: 83.3%

I'm not happy with my science score, but I also haven't taken A&P II or Chemistry yet, just A&P I. I plan on retaking the TEAS in December.

I have a 3.85 science core GPA (one B in A&P I) and 3.81 prereq GPA. that gives me a 45.56 admission score, which probably won't cut it. I can't retake A&P I in time, so my only hope is a higher TEAS score.

Who else is applying for Fall 2020? Are you applying to Houston, Dallas Traditional, or Dallas N&W?

Yeah, I submitted my application about a month ago and still have not heard back.

I also haven't heard back yet. Does anyone know if we're supposed to send in transcripts from our undergrad schools directly to TWU in order to get in initially? Or do we only submit them to NursingCas?

You have to send transcripts to TWU first for them to initially accept you before you can apply to the nursing program through NursingCAS. If you log into your Pioneer Portal and go to Web Advisor it will tell you what your application is missing in order for them to process your application to admit you

Hey! Log into the portal and it may tell you your admission status. My status says accepted on TWU's portal even though ApplyTexas only says submitted. Hope this helps!

I will be applying for the N&W program as I cant afford to quit working full time. I currently have 54pts (assuming I finish micro with an A).

Same! I am applying to the N&W program, plan on working full-time, and am just finishing Microbiology. I think my A might be dependent on the unknown project.

Did anyone attend the Houston information session on the 5th? I wasn't able to attend and was wondering if anyone could tell me anything they learned at the session that isn't on the website.

Most of the information was on the website. The person leading it was the academic advisor so you could always make an appointment with her if you have questions!

Thank you. I have an advising appointment for Friday. Do you know if the TEAS has to be taken at the Denton campus? I'm trying to register for it but the website only mentions the test dates at the Denton campus.

No it doesn't, if you use their code it gets sent to them. I have mine scheduled for a site in West Houston that I saw on the ATI site.

Also, when you sign up for the ATI TEAS test, you can search for the university to send it to from a list (so you don't need to know that code personally).

Thank you. I'm kinda late in the game here. I just realized I'm eligible to apply so I'm barely applying. Hopefully, I can get everything in on time. I know it takes up to 6 weeks for admission into TWU.

No problem! You might want to expect 8 weeks for general TWU admission with the holiday break upcoming. It also helps to check-in if you see that your transcripts aren't received after 2 weeks or weekly after the four week mark to make sure everything is on track. Good luck!

Thank you for the tips!

I have a question that idk if you know the answer to but if anyone else reading this does then you're welcome to respond. Anyway, do you know if TWU bases their admission solely on their point system?

I applied to UTHealth here in Houston and their website sorta makes it seem like all that they base their admission on is GPA and HESI scores (they don't have a point system). However, after attending their info session, the advisor basically said that they do look at GPA and HESI but they also consider overall academic performance and trends. So if you have a lot of Fs or repeats on your transcript they might not admit you.

I did HORRIBLE in college when I was fresh out of high school. I have several Fs on my transcript from the first college I went too. (Which is probably why I got rejected from UTH last fall). However, I have since retaken these courses and passed them. I'm hoping TWU goes only based off of their point system because if that's the case, I'm sure my application could be competitive as long as I score well on the TEAS. But if they also look at overall academic performance, I'm screwed lol
