TWU Fall 2020 Applicants

Updated:   Published

Hey there. I plan on applying to TWUs N&W program in February for the Fall 2020 start. I just took my TEAS test today, my score was:

Overall: 85.3%

Reading: 87.2%

Math: 96.9%

Science: 74.5%

English: 83.3%

I'm not happy with my science score, but I also haven't taken A&P II or Chemistry yet, just A&P I. I plan on retaking the TEAS in December.

I have a 3.85 science core GPA (one B in A&P I) and 3.81 prereq GPA. that gives me a 45.56 admission score, which probably won't cut it. I can't retake A&P I in time, so my only hope is a higher TEAS score.

Who else is applying for Fall 2020? Are you applying to Houston, Dallas Traditional, or Dallas N&W?

What's everyone's admission score? I'm getting so nervous lol!

Applying to Houston with 44.77 points. Pretty low but we'll see what happens!

I’m applying to the Dallas Weekend Evening program and I have a 63.33 admission score.

How do you figure out how many admissions points you have ? And, also is there testing centers other than TWU to take the TEAS?

How many extra points does a previous Bachelor add? Does anyone have access to that sheet? I haven't taken the TEAS yet and I'm trying to decide between TWU and UTA. The TEAS doesn't matter at UTA but I have a higher GPA at TWU. I previously took the HESI and got a 96 but the TEAS is scaring me

If you put your stats in the form and then change the previous bachelors box to yes you can tell. You'll have to add a score for teas though.

I actually thought the TEAS was ok, I took it before the hesi. From memory it has a slightly different emphasis in the math and the science has chemistry as well

They have a sheet on the site for points, I posted it in the post above. Alternatively, sign up for an admissions appointment with an advisor and they do it for you.

Yes there are other sites to take the TEAS , I signed up for a site through the ATI site local to me in Houston. You can take it anywhere they do the TEAS.

Wow! That's an awesome score for N&W. Do you have a bachelors or TWU preference?

The bachelor's degree adds 8 points.

Thanks! I have a previous bachelors, 4.0 for nursing core, and 90% TEAS.

Did they also need your regular GPA if you have a previous bachelors?

It is calculated on your transcripts, so they will know your bachelor GPA, however, they only use grades from your nursing core classes.

So the score won’t be calculated using the other GPA? Just the courses needed before I start that are listed for the already has a bachelors? Weird thing, my US history classes don’t have a GPA because I took them as AP classes decades ago

Correct. My previous GPA was not part of the calculation. The only class that is from my Bachelor is chemistry, so that grade was used. They only use the nursing core classes and TEAS score for the point calculation (and you don't have to have the history and gov classes complete before applying).?
