TWU Dallas Spring 2011

U.S.A. Texas

Hey guys! I recently got my acceptance letter for TWU Nursing school in Dallas! :) I decided to make an account to see if who else has been admitted to the Dallas campus. im soooo nervous!

Bobbi, thanks for all the really helpful info. I know you are probably pretty busy with school (and life) so thanks for taking the time to answer questions. Are you taking any classes this summer to get them out of the way?

Yeah, this last weekish has been hectic. We had clinical, concepts test, assessment test and pharm test in about an 8 days span. Brutal.

I would love to knock out classes in the summer but they don't really offer any. :( Other than patho and the occasional elective, the summer classes are for the weekend program students. (They used to, but budget cuts and all...) I'm taking 18 hours next semester; because I've always done summer to lighten the load I've never had more than 14. I'm terrified!

Your orientation is in a few weeks right?

18 hrs? Yikes! I thought J2 was 16 hrs. What are you taking? Our orientation is Friday, May 6 at 8:30. I am still debating whether to just buy the package book deal, or just order through Amazon. Is there anything in the package deal they offer you at orientation that you need or would be nice to have?

I'm getting the elective out of the way. I've heard S1 is incredibly tough with 3 clinicals (especially Adult II) so I didn't want to add anything on top of that. Plus the electives change every semester, and I wasn't sure another one that interested me would be available so I'm going to go ahead and get it over with, lol.

Last time the book package included e-book versions of some of them. But I knew I would never use them so it wasn't really a bonus for me. A lot of what you buy isn't books anyway, it's online codes to access case studies, drug calculations and videos. Also, you really don't need the pharm book. Everyone told me not to buy it but I just knew at some point I'd need it so I did. Yeah, you really don't. But basically I didn't buy the package because I just didn't have the money at the time. No one told us how expensive books would be, I was only estimating about half of that. After doing some major online shopping from (mostly) Amazon and a few book stores, my total came just short of $1,000 so I'm glad I did it. However, if you do decide to buy them on your own make sure you get the book list for the package anyway. Because the ISBNs and book titles they gave us for each individual class were WRONG WRONG WRONG. So many people bought the incorrect books because they followed the instructors sheets, which hadn't been updated. The book list for the package is correct.
