Hello All!!
I got two job offers and I have finally choosen where I will be working.
1. State mental health facility, 23.88 an hour, plus 3.27 night differential. Night Shift
2. Local Hospital Medical Surgical Floor, 18.40 an hour, dayshift position.
So today Job 2 called with that offer. I told them I would call them tommorrow with my answer. So I have contemplating all day which job to take, the job that is day shift *ideal* and pays less or the job that has great benefits, great pay, but is night shift.
Around 3:00pm today Job 1 called me regarding my start date and seeing if I wanted to move it back to avoid them taking out double premiums from my first pay check. I choose to wait until March 4, but first I asked if they had any day shift positions avaliable. She checked with the lady who hired me and she said yes and I could have it if I wanted it!!!!! OF COURSE I SAID YES!!
So I will be working in Psych my first job!! They will pay for my 1 class a semester after 6 months and have fantastic benefits!!
Thank you everyone for all the responses to my posts and information that has helped me get to this point! I could not be happier!!

Congratulations! Way to negotiate to get that day slot! Keep us posted on your progress.
(gently with "mom" voice) Keep in mind that the facility paying the higher wage is not doing it to be 'nice' - they are doing it because nurses are more reluctant to work there and that's what it takes to get them in the door. Just want you to be prepared.

Its funny you said that. I believe this the case with this facility as well, but Ive heard the same about the other place as well. I think no matter where I go its gonna have a reputation.
