So after applying on Friday, the 24th of January, I got a call back from the nurse recruiter at the hospital on Monday, the 27th. I never ended up seeing that I had a missed call or voicemail until she called again on Wednesday!! I feel bad that I missed the call and hope it didn't reflect poorly on me, however, she did call a second time; does that indicate hope that I may be strongly considered for this position? Not sure what to expect. Maybe some of you will have an idea of what it could mean as this whole nursing/job thing is new to me!

Yes, I think you're either being strongly considered or they want you. Most don't call back if they don't want you, they just don't have time. This happened with my last job, interviewed Fri afternoon and they told me they had other people to interview, missed the call a couple hours later and had to wait till Monday to call HR, and they wanted to hire me.
Good luck and let us know!

I'm guessing she's calling you to set up an interview. When she called on Wednesday, did you talk to her or call her back?

Yes, I spoke with her. She asked some general questions and said she would send my resume to the managers on the units I applied to.
That's so weird to have HR gatekeep applications. I've never worked (as a manager) anywhere where that's done - I always am able to see all applications. I would not like that, as a hiring manager.

The OP has not interviewed yet.
In her case the two calls mean that the recruiter is doing his/her job; some measure of that person's performance involves getting apps to managers.
Multiple calls would be more significant if s/he had already interviewed.

It's hopeful, but definitely don't start spending your first paycheck yet!
