Twas The Night Before NCLEX

Published

Hey everyone! I'm a newer member to this site but I take my NCLEX tomorrow AM! I am nervous but then again I'm ready to get there and just DO IT! I took the Hurst review but still feel scared that I didn't study enough!... Does anyone have any advice for what to do the night before / the morning off NCLEX.. i.e.- where to sit, bring with you, ways to relive anxiety while sitting there reading questions, what to do if you don't know an answer etc....

THANK YOU !!! :)

An others said, don't take ANYTHING with you except your ID and your car keys. A clear see through bottle of water is probably ok. You cannot chew gum, do not wear jewelry, a headband, a hat or a even jacket unless you really need it. Keep your shoes on to prevent getting accused of having answers on the bottom or your feet or socks.

Security is intense and distracting, be prepared for it.

Be prepared for the whole 265/ 6 hours. Hopefully that wont happen, but psych yourself up to think it will so it doesn't freak you out if it does.

For me and most others I have spoken to, it was the most stressful thing I ever did. I left there completely sure that I failed (as do many people), but I passed. Don't let your feelings get in the way of being happy that its over and then find something fun and relaxing to do while waiting for results.

GOOD LUCK!

Thank you so much! That is seriously great advice and I really appreciate it!! I've heard a lot of people that get passed 75 are holding their breath about to pass out when the next questions keep popping up!!! Thanks for all the advice!

Do not waste any time wondering if the question is a higher/lower level question. Just answer the question and move on. Good luck to you!

What I would emphasize the most is that no matter how confident you go in there feeling, it's pretty likely you'll walk out feeling like you didn't know nearly enough and aren't at all confident that you passed. The simple fact is that ~85% of people who take NCLEX pass on the first try, and you studied, so it's pretty likely you passed. Don't let it freak you out too much. I took my boyfriend with me to my test and let him sit outside the Pearson Vue office with my stuff. He also soothed me afterward when I walked out with my brain feeling like mush, too dazed to even cry. If you can't take someone with you, have someone you can call after to calm you down. It'll help :)

If you do try the PVT, do it with a disposable Visa/MasterCard/AMEX gift card and NOT your actual credit/debit card. You don't want to pay $200 to find out that you passed a little bit sooner :p.
