TVCC Fall 2021

Published

Hi. Is anyone here getting ready to apply to TVCC (Terrell Health Science Center) to start Fall 2021? I did not see a thread started, so I thought I would start one so we could help each other with any questions along the process and cheer each other on. If I did my math correctly I will be applying with 53-57 points depending on my final micro grade. Good luck everyone!

Congrats!

How did everybody feel about the program during orientation? I didn't know the program was flipped. I'm unsure now, I left another nursing program for this exact reason.

Im optimistic about it. It gives us more time for discussion and application.

I think I actually prefer a flipped approach. I do better learning material on my own, then going into hands on after I learn. Still a bit nervous though.

They take the whole “flipped program” so serious. Congrats on getting in but you have a difficult journey ahead here. You will be very knowledgeable I will say because it is tough. Advice tip: Since the faculty aren’t much help if you’re unsuccessful on an exam the only suggestion I can make is to review your exam. That seems to help! Use outside resources. Good luck!

What exactly is a "flipped program"? What does it entail? Please only those who cam speak from experiencing the "flipped program" setting at TVCC.

Hi Regina. I'm in the program now. We are responsible for listening to lectures and learning the material before we come to class, then once we go to class we will do activities/case studies to help the info that we've already learned sink in. I really like the flipped classroom, but it is not for everyone. You have to be very comfortable and confident in teaching yourself the material.

Hi guys, I know this discussion was made a while ago. But do you guys know how many people decide to go with a different program after acceptance?

A flipped program is where you have reading/video lectures prior to coming class, and instead of a traditional lecture, you'll be participating in activities pertaining to the concept of that week. Usually those activities are case studies where you will go over it in that lecture period together with the professor. I am personally not a big fan of the flipped program at TVCC, there are some professors that are absolutely great at walking through the case study while going over the concept, and some are not.

Hi! I am unsure how many were actually accepted in the very beginning but our class started out with 145 students.
