Hi Tweety

Stars glad you have some time on your own to get stuff done

NJ22 hope the car is done soon

Dianah sounds like a nice time

Work was good yesterday, not too busy but not completely dead either.  After work spent 20 minutes chipping ice off my car so I could run an errand. Thankfully the roads were not icy

Today should be rather dead at work unless some new cases come in, though given the recent holidays it might be some time before things pick up again.  Grocery shopping tonight, otherwise a quiet night

Will be in the mid 20s again, although I think it will be colder the next day or two

Jello to one and all~

There is an awful lot of very bright sun outside today! In the low 40's. And it is predicted to be so for the next 3 days. Now they are saying that on Friday afternoon, it is POSSIBLE we will get rain, snow, and ice. If so, it'll be the first time in at least 3 winters we've had that kind of Winter weather. It will either NOT occur, or it will be much worse than they are thinking. Generally things don't accumulate heavily here, and whatever comes down disappears and melts off within a day or so. Eh, I ain't worried....for one because I prolly won't go anywhere besides the end of the driveway, to bring in the trash bins I put out on Thursday night, then back in after the trucks have run collecting stuff Friday morning, and I will also to check the mailbox. And secondly, *I* am an experienced New England Winter-time driver. And frequently in Asheville we had some humdingers; twisty, hilly roads made that not so much fun, but I made it to work every time.🙄 Didn't stop me from hating it, mostly because of others on the road at the same time as me!

The mail-persons here work pretty late and we sometimes don't get mail until around 7:30 PM or a little later. The old saw "Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor wind, nor hail"  will stop the post office from their 'rounds'. Yuh, but lack of personnel and vehicles sure will gum things up!

Anyway, I have dressed, taken my meds ,and had my first cup of coffee (sound kinda like Ted, with the 'first cup' report! I wonder how he is doing these days?) Now I have to get the Nannie person up, oh joy, oh happy day.

Maybe laydah, y'all~

Hello all!

Brrrrrrr, sounds COLD to me!

I woke up to NO internet connection.  The computer had no record of having a driver to connect to the internet.  I worked on it a few minutes (mainly turning the computer on and off a couple times), then called on dh (retired systems analyst).  It started working for him, but he doesn't know why.  He did re-boot it rather than just shutting down, perhaps that re-installed some necessary connection...  device...  internal divining rod...  gremlin...  I dunno.  I'm just relieved it works now!

I have a few errands to run today.  Maybe will bake some cookies (dough is in the fridge).  It is WINDY today!  We have a repairman on his way, to look at our land line.  Yes, we still have a land line, LOL!  We usually let calls go to the message machine, and listen when they are recorded.  Well, there is a loud hum whenever a message is taken.  So he's on his way here to check it out.

Youngest ds and dil fly back to Ohio today.  It was nice to see them!

Joe, be careful driving.  I always worry about ice on your roads in this cold, especially black ice.

No Stars, I hope it is a drama-less Nannie day, and that she naps like a good girl.  Scritches to Momo!

Have a good day!

Definitely gremlins, Dianah.

Freezing fog moved in last night and made a nice, slick layer on everything. dh left notes on the front and back door warning about slick surfaces, and I'm glad he did. It was a little comical watching the dogs go out, slipping around. I went for a jog/walk, sticking to the asphalt, because the sidewalks were trying to break my hip.

I got an automated text from the bodyshop, reiterating what I was told 5 days ago. So, no idea how long. I suppose access to parts will be the deciding factor. I will need to go to the grocery store at some point today. The Master Gardener classes start up on Thursday, and as a mentor, I am to bring something for potluck lunch. I was going to make pinwheel sandwiches (wraps cut into slices) but I will need the ingredients. I plan to make turkey and vegetarian.

Dianah, I see forecasts for strong winds in your part of the state, possibly hurricane force. Eek. And lots of Winter weather in other places. I would like a little snow, but I don't want to be chipping ice. As a former skier, and living in Idaho, I feel confident in driving, but if I can't stand up, then I can't drive.

We've had gremlins and or mice gnawing on our wires in the past. I think we could benefit from rewiring the cable access to our house, but I don't want to deal with the cable company. They are, shall we say, less than helpful.

Trivia tonight, with a suggested topic of Bob's Burgers. Thats just weird.

G'day.

Dianah, sounds like you have a good day.

Joe, hope your day was indeed slow.

Stars, have a good day.  Where my parents are in NC doesn't get much ice or snow but those ice storms I remember being a big pain.  That part of the state shuts down and people stay off the roads for the most part.  Of course they do the panic buying of bread and milk.  LOL

Went to work for a committee meeting and did the new CPR.  We now have to renew every 3 months on an electronic machine.  I failed the infant respirations three times as I couldn't get a good seal, and then went too fast and not enough volume.  Was frustrating.  But finally finished.  It's much quicker than the class either live or online so I guess I won't mind.

Then mopped.  Will head to hot yoga here in a few.  Then am going to relax and watch a movie.

G got the appalling news that the company his condo association hired to put up the drywall and fix the damaged condos haven't even applied for permits yet.  They are looking into getting a lawyer to get out of that contact.   Either way it's going to be weeks.  Don't know what the explanation for just sitting on a contract and not acting will be but I'm very frustrated for him.  This is his home, where he lives and he wants to go back.

I haven't had a land line since my ex late ex left in 2007 and I needed to cut expenses.  Don't miss it.  I don't even have an alarm clock anymore I'm so dependent on my phone.  My parents have a land line still.  My sister bought them an amplifier so when someone calls they put it on speaker and it's really loud.

Started today at 49 degrees and that was the high so far, but may inch up to 50 by now.  That's a cold high for us, way below our usual high of 70.  But got good heat set on 74.

We have snow in the forecast Thurs and Fri. Probably not much. It's a balmy 32 at the moment but was 15 when I drove to work this morning. I would much rather have snow than ice. I've slid and wrecked on icy roads twice and feel fortunate that no one was injured either time. Plus, ice breaks trees and power lines.

I gave Binx one of the liquid (or nearly liquid) kitty treats that they have at the vet -- remembered that he licked at the one they put out when he was being examined the other day -- and he ate most of it. Hubs reports he has eaten at least a little bit of canned food. And no vomiting. Fingers crossed.

So my friend who reached out the other day -- turns out she is starting to sell jewelry for one of those multi-level marketing things. I feel a little used. Will still meet her for lunch Saturday.

I found a local place to buy vanilla beans. Twin B bought a bottle of vodka for me for Christmas 🙂 so now we can make vanilla extract and amaretto again.

Ado, sounds like Binx had a good day.  When dh fed the cats this morning, one of them ate well then promptly vomited whole stomach contents up.  *sigh*  He isn't sick, just being a cat.  BUT, glad Binx is doing well!  Yah, disappointing about your friend.  Maybe lunch will turn out to be more of a catch-up than marketing (fingers crossed).  Stay warm and safe!

Awwww, Tweety, that is awful news for George!!  I wanted to slap someone upside the head and yell "Come ON, REALLY??"  I hope the condo association can exit the contract and get in someone who will be dependable and prompt.

I completed my errands.  And after I got home, I baked 12 dozen cookies.  Dh is happy (with the cookies!).  The repairman came early, and fixed whatever was causing the problem with the land line.  As I am online now, obviously the gremlins who interrupted wifi service are no longer an issue.  Big sigh of relief, here.  It is still a VERY blustery day out.  Local mountains got about 6" of snow.

Have a good evening!

Speaking of mice eating wires.....years ago in YANKEE magazine was a very well- written and funny/scary poem,....about an invasion of chipmunks in the Winter, chewing on car wires, and how you could see all the little red eyes shining as they moved in on cars and to the houses. I still have the poem in a box SOMEWHERE; it impressed me a great deal! Wish I could locate it!

We had a landline here at Nannie's for the first few years, and then had to start trimming the finances, so gave it up, The one thing I liked about landlines is that you could still use them during a power-outage.

And once a woman at work came up to me in the office, saying she wanted to talk to me, and took my hand and brought me to an empty office....it was weird, because she had never been friendly like that ever before, barely spoke with me in private as a 'friend'. Well, come to find out she had just taken a side-gig selling an "absolutely amazing skin lotion," and I "just have to try it to see how great it is". I was nice about it but declined, and kind of appalled to have her pull the friendly sales-person out, and why. After she realized I as not being drawn in by her presentation, it was almost persona non grata again. Didn't bother me; it just was annoying, is all.

Since it is actually Wednesday, I will now continue on the correct site....
