Good morning!
Seems much of the eastern country is dealing with some weather issues. We're supposed to get some heavy rains which may cause some localized street flooding. Hoping it's not more than that. Thankfully it doesn't flood in my neighborhood. I went to the grocery store this morning and it's warm, no sunshine and quite windy.
Going to yoga class before it rains. Supposed to go to watch a movie with best friend at his condo but his streets tend to flood if it rains a lot in short period of time, so I might not go.
Stars, out of the blue a couple of days ago my left toe started throbbing in horrible pain for a few minutes. It's happened before. Weird how the body behaves. LOL
Have a great day!
Hello all!
Hope the weather isn't travel-limiting, and that you all have supplies to last you through the worst. We have had cold weather (in the 40's) the last three days -- a welcome change from Summer! Only a few sprinkles the other day, no real RAIN.
I took TWO naps yesterday, and still managed to sleep through the night last night! Must have been tired. Nothing planned for today, may potter in the house a little.
Blister area on right heel is sensitive, while the left heel is not. Just takes time to heal.
I haven't cut down our tomato and bell pepper plants, and before this cold spell, they were still producing! The tomato plant has grown to 7-8 feet tall, supported by the hibiscus (wonder if we will get hybrid tomatoes???).
Have a good day!
Jeepers! We have water coming in through the back corner of the den, from under the house/under the deck. I have tossed down folded towels and flannel blankets, and already have had to change out the towels in the corner where the leaks are flowing in. Have a bunch of sopped towels in the dryer. I should have wrung them out first, but I didn't. I hope it doesn't strain the dryer too much, to have those heavy towels being soaked the way they are.
This has happened before, a lot of years ago, and before we discovered it, the water had flowed over to Nannie's bedroom and bathroom. I have at times had to do this towel-business other times, so I am a pro at it. Guess I will put the 2nd load of towels into the washer on spin, to get the worst of the water out of the fabrics. But this is the worst it's been since the first time it happened. YIKES!
*fingers crossed* SO FAR we still have power, so I hope the towel changing can be ongoing... in and out of the dryer by turns. I have used up all the towels from Nannie's linen closet and started using towels from my linen closet upstairs. Tooooooo much rain!
I have four little lanterns with fresh batteries, so we're okay that way, just in case. If our TV and WiFi go out, I have those little lights to read by. But I hope we keep power because I need more dry towels, etc, soon.
What fun. I'll come by later and update you as things occur.
I hope nobody has been hurt from the varieties of wind, rain, tornadoes, snow, etc. Y'all STAY SAFE!
Single digit above zero temps here in the interior, with a few inches of new snow. It's cloudy here so we're not getting the aurora shows. If course, I only get up and go outside for the lights now when people visit.
I should join a book club.
Get a dehumidifier, stars. That will help you to keep up with it. You should spend the money later to have that corner better protected from water.
Naps are great! I'll probably have a nap after I clean up dog poop for three spoiled dogs.
Rain has eased off some. We may have some more, but not as . Nannie wants to know what the pile of dry towels are doing in the middle of the floor here in the den.....I told her the towels are standing by for the next towel change. I told her I am not about to fold them and stack them neatly, she will just have to tolerate them for now. Pretty soon the dryer will buzz with another load of dry stuff, and I can put the already spun towels into the dryer and put the sopping stuff in the washer to spin, and spin, dry, repeat, repeat, repeat! Whew!
Sun is trying to shine through in the western sky, as it sets. Hah!
We are now watching the local news channel. Glad we don't live South of here, as they have been having flooding and flash flooding, quite a mess of trees down, stuck cars, crashes, a few house fires, etc.
Anyway, being a Veteran of Laundry and an Experienced Leak-Absorbency Expert (not just Nannie's leaks!) ....it's a handy talent to have. We have 'only' had 4-6 inches of rain, and I really hope it is soon to be GONE. We are still going to be having 25 mph gusts through the night, so there is the possibility of trees coming down. We will be getting rain again on Friday and then again on Monday. Oh JOY!
Once we have enough dry towels again, I will do another few rounds of spin and dry. After I know it is all over, I will have to WASH all the towels (blankets, flannel sheets, etc) I have been putting through the cycles. Needless to say, I am getting tired, and I am so OVER all this! Well, we are fortunate, really, not being in a flood zone, and not having to go out to drive anywhere. And we still have power to run the laundry until the stuff is once again clean, dry, and folded, then put away in the linen closets.
Nannie and I ate supper a little early, just in case the power did go out. Two days ago, SiL had brought us a container of cooked hamburger meat and 'chili beans', (which weren't spicy), so I heated them up and made grilled cheese sandwiches. Now Momo is sort of pouting from lack of attention, so I have to love on her, then give her some supper.
BiL stopped over here, and he said he will bring a dehumidifier over tomorrow. I don't want all the water that soaked through to cause a big mold and mildew problem down here, because we spend most of our time in this room.
Still dealing with the wet towels....spinning, drying, and repeating. I THINK I will be able to take up towels tomorrow, and then I can begin in earnest to REALLY do LAUNDRY, to make sure they are all clean. Soaking up rainwater is a dirty job. My shoulders are sore from lugging dripping wet towels (etc) to and from the washer/dryer. GADS!
And just as tiring as the physical workout, I have had to explain to Nannie about every ten to fifteen minutes what I was doing and why there are towels spread all over the place, and that yes, it did rain quite heavily today, and no, she doesn't need to move out of her recliner, and that no, she didn't have to do anything to help me. I bit my lip so I didn't get short with her and say what I was thinking, which was that it would really help if she'd just shut up! But ya can't treat a person with dementia/Alzheimer's like that.
I will take my meds as soon as I pop Nannie into her bed, and I hope to go to sleep earlier than usual. I NEED the rest after all the activity today.
Enough is enough!
I *should* go to bed early. We have students coming for orientation in the morning. And there's a regional emergency planning meeting and an online meeting of the risk managers and a nursing leadership meeting. So much for getting work done tomorrow.
Hubs replaced the kitchen faucet today (yay! Finally!) and it's nice to be able to turn water off and not have to position things just right so that it doesn't leak.
Stars, I can remember having to soak up water like that and it really is a chore. Hope your power stays on and the flooding is done.
Minimal rain here, temp in the hi 30s, low 40s, dampness makes it feel colder to me. I left my wallet at a restaurant last night, so I called them this morning, and then went in to pick it up. Weird, they didn't ask me my name, or verify my ID. I picked up fried chicken and pre-made salads for dinner. Dh wanted to move the travel trailer back in the drive but was all befuddled on how to do it. I jumped in, and put it right where he wanted it. There is blizzard like conditions in the mountains just east of us, and high winds south. Very cold weather (single digits) is moving in on Thursday. Whenever the aurora borealis are predicted, it's always overcast here, same with meteor showers.

Tweety that is odd that the patient got that far
Stars here's hoping they get that refill for her soon
Dianah thanks, I'm hoping for good luck once the search starts
NJ22 glad the insurance came through on that
Ado that sounds like the weather we'll be having in a few days
Was a bit nervous about getting everything done and going to the doctor's in the morning for fasting labs, but by cutting lunch way short and starting a bit early I managed to get everything done. Was still a busy day but at least I didn't have to stay early
After work went to the library, had to pick up the next book club book, and return another one I had been reading. I would have liked to renew the latter but there was a hold on it, and no other non-digital copies available. Ended up deciding to buy a copy. Exercised and relaxed the rest of the night
Tonight have book club, hopefully it won't get cancelled due to the snow
A snowstorm is expected tonight but the worst of it seems to be to the northwest, we'll get a few inches of snow and then some rain and very windy conditions tonight. Should stay in the mid 30s
