Trying to Study Ahead

study-before-school-starts.jpg.128486c1521cb8a5367c2296f3074f1c.jpg

Hello all. I have a whole year before I start my first semester. It is a good idea to study ahead? Should I get into Fundamentals and pharmacology?

No point, in my opinion. You will burn yourself out before you start.

It can be a lot to study from tbh. One thing I recommend is possibly learning the skills (taking vitals , catheter care , bed baths ,etc.) I know some schools have a healthcare course or a CNA program that offered this.

Thanks.... I'm already a CNA and Phlebotomist... I just don't know what to do with myself while I'm waiting. I was also thinking of taking a "Dosage Calculations" course offered at my CC.

You will never burn yourself out with quality time studying what you will need to know and apply, On the other hand your will 'burn yourself out' when you wait until the last minute to learn mountains of information that you do not have a sold background  to assimilate this into your already learned knowledge.

Thanks.. figured I'd do something while I wait...I am working extra hours to save up for school etc.

So this was my strategy for prereqs. I studied “for dummies” books and workbooks because they are cheap and they give a brief overview of major themes in almost any topic being discussed. And they use experts to write those books. They are VERY underrated. I received straight a’s in my prereqs probably because of those books. I intend to do the same for the theory portion of nursing school. The more times you expose yourself to a topic, the more likely you are to commit it to long term memory.
