Trying to be an RN on the central coast of California!

Hello :wink2:

Is anyone familiar with Cuesta College in SLO? I've submitted my application, now I'm preparing to take the TEAS test. I'm curious what my chances are of getting in any time soon. I'd love to hear from anyone who's familiar with their nursing program!

hmm SLO. I'm not familiar with the community colleges there but I know that Cal Poly has no nursing program. I did apply to CSUB for the spring and I recieved a letter stating possible acceptance to the 2010 class. So maybe I might be near you hahaha. good luck!

Neither Cal Poly or UC Santa Barbara offer nursing programs... it's too bad we don't have any way to go straight to a BSN without leaving the area...

CSUB? Where's that?

I thought Cuesta is an LVN program???? I know Alan Hancock offers an LVN program as well. It's in Sta. Maria though. don't know if you live in SLO ??? Other than that, SBCC offers the ADN program.

Hi!

I applied July 2009 for Fall 2010 semester too! I recieved a letter back in December stating I was an eligible applicant and would hear of my acceptance in March! It's so close but I am having such a hard time waiting =)

When I get any response I will fill you in and hopefully if you get a response you can fill me in!

Thanks!

Cuesta has always been known as a school where you had to be related to the right person in order to be admitted. Other options, although not convenient, are Allan Hancock in Santa Maria and Hartnell in Salinas as well as Monterey Peninsula College in Monterey. While these other schools are not easy for admissions, they don't carry quite the comment factor that Cuesta does.

So I got a letter yesterday stating I was on the Alternate applicant pool list. BOO! Hopefully you got something better!

Good Luck!

Caliotter3...what do you mean by "While these other schools are not easy for admissions, they don't carry quite the comment factor that Cuesta does. "

The other schools do not have a reputation that an applicant has to be related to the right person to be admitted.

Do you live on the central coast and know people in this program? I am going to be applying there for fall 2011 and if it is not worth my efforts I wont. I just wonder how you got this info. I looked Cuesta up and they have a great passing rate ont he NCLEX. Do they have a good reputation i your mind for training their nurses? Do you think that only local nursing graduates get hired at their local hospitals?

soontobenurse,

Do you know any of the details of how many Cuesta took? How many applied? Do they do a wait list...is that what you mean by you are on an alternate list? Do they give you an alternate number?
