Trying to Pass Nclex RN after 4 yrs

Published

I did not take the nclex rn right away when I graduated from nursing school. I waited 1 yr later to take it. 4 yrs later, I am struggling to pass this test. Does anyone know if there is a refresher class available? What do I need to successfully pass this test, I am tired of failing yet, I do not want to quit just yet. Thank you for everyone input.

Refresher courses are for licensed nurses who are re-entering the work force. You are looking for a review course, an NCLEX prep course, of which there are many.

Much depends on how you did the first time, what areas of testing you did not pass, before you can know where to start. Certainly those areas haven't improved, and by now you have likely lost a significant amount of the knowledge you had at graduation, when it was fresh. Much work to do!

Kaplan offers classroom options along with a study guide AND online practice questions and tests. Maybe the best thing you can do at the moment is go to a bookstore, take a look through the NCLEX books available (this time of year, LOTS!) and see what looks best to you.

No one here can really recommend a particular review course, as none of us know what went wrong the first time, if you were right on the edge and barely failed, or if you did miserably and need to start from scratch.

Go to the top of this page, the yellow banner and find the word "Students". Click that, follow the drop down to NCLEX Discussion Board, and you'll see much talk on the topic.

Goodluck!

Your school may be able to recommend a remedial course, that would be the first place I would look. If not, contact the nurse that runs caring4you.net

I would definitely contact your school for advice on that. If anything, I would recommend Kaplan AND Hurst plus a question book to complete. I wish you luck in passing!
