Trying to find that Dream Job

Published

I am trying to find my first job as a new Nurse grad.. I have yet to have any luck and its very depressing to fill out numerous applications online and still nothing..No call, no email, no nothing.. I feel that I am helpless in this situation because all I can do is give them my information, resume, cover letter etc. I am not experienced because I am new and everyone wants experienced nurses.. The only way to get the experience is to get out there and work! Any advice or comments welcomed!!

I am sorry that you are having a hard time finding your first job. Many Many nurses are having the same issues so take comfort it is not just you for the reason your having a hard time. What jobs have you been applying to? If you are just going for hospital jobs you might have to expand your search for other places such as LTC, Hospice, Home Care just to mention just a very few that you can be looking into to finding that first job.

Just don't give up and keep on the hunt. Good Luck and heres a Hug for you to give you a little comfort and hope it gives you the courage to keep at it.

When you say dream job, are you being specific or are you looking for any job? Sometimes finding a good job with a good company is far better than finding a job with a "dream unit" only to find the morale is so low that it kills you. Seriously. I can tell my horror story.

I would begin trying to network with former students too if possible. Keep in mind that many people take over a year to find their first job. There are those who get a job quickly but usually it takes longer.

Are you looking for a job to pay the bills, or are you holding out for that "dream job"? Sometimes, the only way to get the dream job is to take the available job and work your way into it. Paying your dues used to be something that was accepted, respected and expected.

I feel your pain. I've applied to everything and have been rejected from all of them. It's rough. It even hurts sometimes watching my friends get jobs, while I am spending about 6-8 hours a day searching for jobs. I just have faith that something will come.
