Truth about Breckinridge school of nursing

Published

I had a good experience. I graduated last month and took my Nclex . Passed in 75 questions first try. Credits do transfer to BSN programs also. We take HESI just like other schools. The same exit hesi as established schools. People pass and people fail throughout. It's just a NEW school so it takes a certain number of people to pass Nclex before it will be accredited in all areas but that's coming soon. It has a bad rep. It isn't 50000 dollars either. I had pell grant and that cut it down to 20000. Oh well I'm an RN. My license looks the same as accredited schools exactly . It doesn't say your school on your license. It's all good and worth it. Once it becomes accredited fully it will be just another nursing program. It's coming. Teachers are excellent. It's hard and demanding as any nursing program is. They use the same up to date textbooks and editions. This is only my experience but I tore up the Nclex so it taught me a lot. It has an extremely high Nclex pass rate. It's a normal nursing program. It's unorganized as they are still doing trial and error but it's a good school all in all

Yes I have a job at a good hospital

I met them all at church

I go to church because I believe in God but it's also a good networking place.

When I originally wrote that post I felt hopeless though

I also enrolled myself in an RN to BSN program so that I could feel better about my nursing education.

It's a good school too so I'm not ashamed

Thank you beachyRN2be I was talking to you

You got a full acceptance to an RN-BSN program within 48 hours of finding out about it and applying (according to your other post)? I'm impressed. That's incredibly fast to process an application, review official transcripts, forward it to the SON for final audit and review, and send out notice of acceptance...

Trichick I actually had applied back in Jan and had to wait a while. I had transcripts coming from three different places so I had to wait until they all were received. I didn't know if I would be excepted so I was asking about good programs for RN to BSN if I didn't get excepted as a backup plan

I am sorry to hear that. If nobody was able to help me I probably would have put on some nice clothes, grabbed my resume, and went to every possible place I could find that interested me. You will get a job soon. I also thought about paying someone to find me a job if I couldn't find one myself. Like a personal recruiter.

I'm not sure if this post was meant for me, since you said you were talking to me. I'm really confused by this response?

The others posts I get, but this one I don't...

Ok....first OP Congratulations on graduating and passing NCLEX. Congrats on getting a position in the current job market for many nursing graduates are having difficulty.

Now....this school does cost $54,000.00 excluding books and fees/uniforms. Not everyone will be eligible for grants and $54,000.00 is A LOT of money. I understand that many students utilize these programs for one reason or another....mostly they cannot get accepted into traditional programs or they are not wishing to wait. It is understandable however, these programs have limitations and drawbacks.

OP you were very fortunate that you had "connections" for many nursing graduates, including ones from accredited schools, with an associate degree are having difficulty finding positions in acute care. While you have not faced much opposition locally you may find...years down the road...that graduating from a non nationally NURSING accredited school will limit your ability to be employed in another state and certain facilities. $54,000.00 is a lot of money spent on a degree that may not give you the opportunities later in life or in another state. Your school is approved locally to take the NCLEX.....that will not transfer to some states.

I am glad the tides have turned for you and you have a position and are continuing your education. My daughter is in an accredited state school for her BSN and her education is $32,000.00.....$54,000.00 for an associates degree is A LOT of money and not everyone's cup of tea.
