Hello everybody. I got the emails from Truman and they put me in the evening class but I need to have the class in the mornings. Is anyone willing to trade with me? I'll PM you so we can ask the people in charge if they can do it for us.

I didn't find my schedule in any of the emails they sent me. I thought we'd find out our schedule at the orientation..

As per the last email I received from Vanisha Harris:

"--If you have received an orientation letter that indicates 9:00a.m. -1:00p.m. [on 8/16, at Truman], you have been assigned to register for the Nursing Program Day Schedule

Day students have classes on Monday and Wednesday mornings, with hospital clinicals on Tuesdays and Thursdays (7 am – 1 pm or 2 pm – 8 pm). Clinical days are subject to change, due to hospital availability.

--If you have received an orientation letter that indicates 4:00p.m. -8:00pm [on 8/16, at Truman], you have been assigned to register for the Nursing Program Evening Schedule

Evening/Weekend students have classes Monday and Wednesday evenings, with hospital clinicals on Fridays and Saturdays/Sundays (7 am – 1 pm or 2 pm – 8 pm). Clinical days are subject to change, due to hospital availability.

Reminder: you must attend both orientations at Malcolm X and Harry S. Truman College. ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY."

To ZBB13: did you get the emails yet? what is your email address?

To Zbb13 or other who didnot get the emails: here is the first email. There is 5 file attachments (Booklist, Health History, Health Record, Immunization form, and student statement release). Let me know if you need them.

Dear Student,

Congratulations! It is our pleasure to inform you that your application for admission into the City Colleges of Chicago Nursing Program at Truman College for fall 2011 semester has been accepted. Your academic preparation has prepared you with the high caliber qualifications necessary for success in our Nursing program.

Now we need you to take important next steps to complete your admission into the Nursing program. Please read the instructions below carefully and complete as specified.

IMPORTANT

First, please complete your medical, criminal background, drug screen panel and CPR requirements as soon as possible.

The deadline for submission of this information is July 15, 2011. You will NOT be allowed to register for classes until your health record is complete. The Nursing Office will not accept incomplete medical packets. All requirements must be complete by the deadline

Second, please see the available class schedule below for either the day or evening/weekend sessions:

Day students have classes on Monday and Wednesday mornings, with hospital clinicals on Tuesdays and Thursdays (7 am - 1 pm or 2 pm - 8 pm). Clinical days are subject to change, due to hospital availability.

Evening/Weekend students have classes Monday and Wednesday evenings, with hospital clinicals on Fridays and Saturdays/Sundays (7 am - 1 pm or 2 pm - 8 pm). Clinical days are subject to change, due to hospital availability.

Please note Clinical section times, days, and locations are not guaranteed. They are subject to hospital availability and scheduling decisions. Please anticipate that clinicals could be rescheduled for Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays, AM or PM shifts, regardless of your enrollment in the morning or evening cohort.

Third, please plan to attend the 2-day mandatory nursing orientation sessions. These sessions will provide you with extensive information about the Nursing program, as follows:

1. Overview of the Nursing curriculum

2. Review of Nursing policies and procedures

3. College resources available to you to promote your success

4. Medical, criminal background, and CPR requirements (these will need to be completed over the summer, by July 15, 2011)

5. Registration for Fall 2011 Nursing courses

The following is the CCC Nursing Program mandatory orientation session schedule:

Monday, August 15 General Nursing Orientation Malcolm X College, Theater, 1900 West Van Buren Avenue, Chicago, IL 60612

9am - 12 Noon

Once all the seats are reserved in either cohort, students will be assigned to the remaining seats in the other cohort.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Please review the Fall 2011 Schedule for a complete list of current tuition and fees. Please review the Fall 2011 Schedule for a complete list of current tuition and fees at the following web address

http://www.ccc.edu/student/tuition.asp Additionally, you will incur costs for nursing fees, books, uniforms, and other program participation requirements, including a health physical which includes, titers or immunizations for lack of immunity (see attached document), drug screening (10 panel) CPR, and a criminal background check that can be done at the following web address: http://certifiedbackground.com/ (pass code AY08) cost $20.00.

Please complete your Financial Aid applications immediately. Information about financial aid is available in room 1935 or by calling 773-907-4810.

Uniforms

The information regarding the City Colleges of Chicago Nursing Uniform will be shared during Nursing Orientation.

Summer Courses

There is one course you should take during the summer if you have not taken it already: Biology 226 Human Structure and Function I. This course is required for Nursing 101 which you will take in the fall. Alternatively, you can take this at the same time as Nursing 101 during the fall semester. However, Nursing is a rigorous program! Our best advice is to complete this course prior to enrolling in Nursing 101.

If you have already taken this course, please consider completing Biology 227 Human Structure and Function II or Micro Biology 233 during the summer. You will need to complete them at some point during your first year in the Nursing program.

I look forward to seeing you at orientation. Once again, congratulations!

Sincerely,

Tyra L. Ousley

Director of Nursing

question 2: what happens if i miss nursing orientation?

answer: nursing orientation is mandatory and its part of your nursing program. the orientation is vital to your success in the nursing program. unfortunately, if you are unable to attend you will not be able to register for the nursing program.

question 3: can i switch from a day session to an evening session? or can i switch from a evening to a day session?

answer: on the nursing application you indicated your preference of day or evening session. due to limited availability of seats we will not be able to switch students at this time.

Good for you. I wish there's someone out there who needs evenings. By the way, does anyone know if we can rent the nursing books from Truman's bookstore?
