Nurses Relations

Published

we had 4 pt's on our unit , i was in charge, we had one discharge , which left us with three pt's . i took one pt and gave the other nurse 2 pts', and a admit coming. the other nurse freaked out and told me i need to take it. i said we have only 3 pt's on this unit. this nurse feaked out , told me i was unfair and saying i needed to take the pt. i said what? you can take up to 8 pt's , he went on and on how unfair i was. i was shocked .. he was yelling at me at the nurses station. he said to me " your really trying to avoid that admit arn't you? for cripes sakes we had 3 pt's on the unit , he had 2 other pt's. i was in charge of the unit, he has been a bully before to me , so i did a midas on him. since when do you give the Charge nurse your pt?? so weird... has anyone ever encountered bullying in the work place ? and as a charge nurse a staff nurse refusing to take a pt , when he only has 2 himself? he yelled at me so loud a CNA heard him yelling at me down in the hall. he did this at the nurses station in front of staff.... crazy , anyway thank you for letting me in vent ..

I am having a hard time following this story, as it keeps changing--there was a CNA, there was not a CNA, he/she, I go off the floor for admissions as we have a low census.......Sounds confusing, and I would not be floating CNA's if I were going to leave 1 RN on the floor. But never the less, this person is no longer working, so problem solved.

seriously Bullies? nurses? Sometimes I can't tell the difference at my work. To me most nurses = Bullies. I don't know why people have to be so controlling and trying to argue about anything and everything. Everything is so "unfair" to them. Then what about to other people? Should I assign you zero patient and let you go home and still get paid? What the? I cannot stand these ***** nurses any more. Even though your bully nurse is a guy, he is still qualified for that "b" name!

I think you need to sit down and talk to someone about your anger issues there Luvbuble;)

I don't have anger issues. My issue is people should consider this as a job, go in and do your job instead of trying to calculate how many patients you get and how many other nurses don't get. Get over it. If you don't get any patient this time, you will get more than other next time. It is always unfair in the working world. These people who complain a lot and complain about everything have to grow up. Also, stop talking at your work all the time. Your job is to take care of the patients and not chatting 24/7 or on your laptop playing with your stupid games!

Or perhaps OP is just trying to maintain some anonymity and changing genders to make it less obvious who she is in real life. (And slipped up later.)

Yup. That's what I thought. We should all be changing identifiable information when posting here. Nursing is a strangely small world.

I've easily identified a few posters here just by the details they post ;-)

There's that saying, "Pick your battles," I'm gonna pass this one up. Sounds like you could really use a vacation. I don't know your current situation anymore than you know mine. I do sense a ton of resentment and anger in your posts (both) on this thread, but I have always heard if you think EVERYONE has a problem but yourself, you could really some mirror time.

P.S. I know my Job, and I am pretty capable at it (*"your"), and you might not want to group ALL nurses into your steriotypes. Generalizations are ALWAYS wrong. Most nurses I know are "grown up." If your that good at classifying me (who you have no clue who I am or my work ethics), you probably are similar in your judgments of your colleagues. I'm not attempting to call you out, but your poor judgment of ALL nurses is wrong. You could just be in a poor work environment with poor management. The nurses I work with in 3 different places ROCK!!! Maybe a change in scenery is in order. Hope your work conditions improve before you blow your top.
