No, not at all. I became a nurse when I was 37. I am 48 now and going back to school for FNP. When I started nursing school I was pregnant with my first and second kids. Imagine how much fun that was? I actually saw my baby moving inside of my belly in nursing classes! I also used my baby pictures for my mother/baby project. It is never too late if you put your heart to it.

You are a nurse not God, there is just so much you can do. You did the right thing. These teenage kids will learn their way to deal with problems. Don't feel bad. The parents of these kids should feel bad. It is their responsibility to raise their kids and help them out.

I am just going to get the FNP and get a job in the medspa. My goal is to be able to inject my clients without getting clearances from NP. I also probably take a job in a low T clinic as well. Since I already have the experience, it will not be a problem.

I think I can find preceptors or hospitals to take me in since I have some connections. We have a lot of facilities and hospitals in Dallas, Tx, right? I also know a few NPs who had gone through this. I am a total introvert but no one can tell because when I am with people, I am talkative and kind of fun I would say. So doing everything online with no teachers or counselors, it is totally okay. The internet is my good friend. Ha ha ha ha.... (kind of sad but it is true). Just out of curiosity, where did you do your preceptorship since you are in Dallas as well?? Do you mind telling me please? Thanks for your help!

Depends on how you feel. Do you feel like a 56 years old? Do you move slow and immobile? If you are still active and you like to stay active, no age is too old. I am 48 but I feel like 25. People say I look like in 30. I am planning on going back to school to get my nurse practitioner degree. I have been a nurse for 11 years. It is not easy to be a nurse, if you can pick some easier specialty to go into, it will be much better for your body. The 1st year is the hardest because you need to get experience in the hospital but it will get better. Once you get your foot in, you will be fine. Believe me, you can do it if you put your mind into it.

You had done everything you could have done to try to save his life. If there was a AED, maybe he would have a better chance. Bless your heart. Don't feel bad.

I am going back to school online at 48. I have been a nurse for 11 years and I hold a ADN since 2005. I never got the urge to get my BSN because I am good at my job and I make more money than the BSN nurses. I have been lucky I guess. Anyhow, the whole reason why I want to be a family Nurse practitioner is because besides my full-time surgery center job as PACU/Preop nurse, I also work part time in a medspa to inject botox and filler. I am so good at it that I have clients who will come back to see me only. I see the opportunity down the road. If I can get my FNP degree, I will be able to make more money, work less and do what I like (botox/filler). I can probably quit my surgery center job which I don't care for. I have a client who is a NP told me about Walden online, she definitely loves their program because it is much easier than other online universities and it does not take as long. I talked to Walden advisor online and she told me it will take about 2.5 years to get my FNP if I decide on doing the bridge program( I will not get my BSN but go directly to FNP). They are a bit expensive but I think it is doable since I am making okay money. I have also look into UTA (university of Texas Arlington) which has better reviews all around. They are like @10,000 cheaper than Walden but it will take me at least 4.5 years to complete my FNP. UTA does not have a bridge program which means I have to get my BSN first then move on to the FNP. I am still trying to find out more about other online universities that do the bridge programs. I want to see if there are better choices out there. Please let me know if you have good experience with some online universities that have "bridge", I really need to start now, I am 48 and I think I want to get this done as soon as possible.

I think you are very smart to get to learn all these stuff. I have been a nurse for 11 years. I have no clue what you are talking about. I am not kidding. There are different levels of nurses on earth. Some nurses are specialized in ER, ICU, they do those stuff every day, that's why they know everything in those area. If I tell them to go inject botox or filler, they probably have no clue what they are doing and they don't know anything about the muscles and blood vessels on the face. Don't feel bad. Some people have miserable lives, they enjoy trashing others and NOT Lifting. I am a good teacher, I understand how people feel when they are new and inexperienced. I have been there, done that. No big deal. That's why you need a preceptor. I don't know why some people have to be such jerks. Sorry about your experience but things will get better once you get through the training. Believe me, I am making more money than those preceptors who were nasty and mean to me 11 years ago. I know you need to vent. So I am giving you hugs here! Don't give up.There are people like that even at my current job. They act like they are better than me just because they have experience in ICU and I don't . Oh well, whatever, I am making more money than they do anyways. And I know I know stuff that they don't know.

$30 to $35 per hour usually as needed but have a certain hours in a week that are opened to schedule clients in. If the RN knows how to do laser or microderm or chemical peel, she can be hired as part time. Probably cheaper to hire the RN as PRN (as needed) then you can call her a day ahead of time to let her know you don't need her if nothing is scheduled for the next day.

Thanks for your tips. I went there a bit early and I noticed they had scheduled nurses back to back for interviews. : ( I really didn't know there were so many nurses apply for this "ONE" and only "ONE" position. SAD.... They asked me questions that I did not expect, they asked how would you communicate with the teachers? I was so tempted to say, " I would text them....ha ha....." I think I did okay but not as well as I wanted. I will post again if I get the job.

I need urgent help please! I am going to have an interview in 2 days and I am wondering if anyone can give me some pointers. I have been a nurse for 10 years. I have 2 years of med/surg and 8 years of preop/PACU experience. I am wondering what they are going to ask me for this job interview since they already did a quick phone interview for me today? They warned me about the pay cut and they said probably I would get about $45-60. I doubt that they will offer $60,000 since every elementary school district has a budget. If it is 60,000, I think I can probably take the pay cut. However, if you were me, how much of a pay cut would you take? I am making $65,000 now and I am willing to take a pay cut since I do not have to work the entire summer. Anyhow, any suggestions will be valuable to me. Thanks for your help! Have your checked Empire Medical Training out yet? I took their classes in Texas. About $3000 and you can take as many classes you want in 2 years. That will include Dermal fillers, botox, advance botox, PRP, Sclerotherapy, laser hair removal. Check their schedule out first because not every locations have all the classes. You might have to take some classes in one state and other classes in other states. I think they offer the best deal. I don't work for them but it is a good training company. They actually have doctors to teach you in the class and all the meds, syringe, gloves are provided. You can bring a model or you can volunteer to be injected by others and others will let you inject them as well. It is a fun class and it is pretty informative.

It really depends on what products and brands your doctors like to use. Some spas like to use Botox over Dysport and they come in different units. It is not like one product is better than the other. It is just doctors' preference. For fillers, like Radiesse last about 12-16 months , it is usually used for cheeks and hands and not recommended for lips or tear trough. All these will probably be gone through by the doctors at your spa when you are hired. I think most doctors are looking for nurses who are willing to learn. They want the nurses who are personable and able to sell products to their clients. I am not currently working in this area yet but I do notice that they usually don't like to hire nurses who have bad skin or smoke. With that said, I guess try to dress your best, be professional and tell them you are willing to learn, they will probably give you extra credit for that.

I have 8 years of experience as a med/surg and PACU nurse. I am very bored with my job and I would like to go into aesthetic nursing. I am wondering which filler/botox injection classes are good with reasonable tuition fee. I want to go to a reputation company to take the class and get a certificate for this. I think you are already way ahead of "us" who have tons of experience as med/surg or general nurses but zero experience to do any botox injection. Anyhow, I don't know much about this field but I do know that most spas love nurses who can do botox as well as laser. Do you have experience in that either one of them?
