  1. I'm thinking of going into aesthetics, I was doing some research and came across the national laser institute, I requested some info which was given to me by a return call from a rep. I've been reading on this site how some of you have jobs in plastic surgeons offices or already work in medical spas, etc. My question is whether or not this 10 day program in texas or arizona( i live on the east coast) is worth the $ they're asking for-(over $8,000)? 2-Is there a less expensive way to get started? 3-How easy is it to get a job having had no experience in the field? Should I start out with just injections, get a job and hope that place will pick up the tab to further train me? Sorry so many questions! Thanks and any info is very much appreciated!
  2. Thanks for your advice and encouragement.
  3. I appreciate all the advice! After much thought I decided to accept the position! I very excited and nervous at the same time!
  4. I'm a new grad and was just offered a position at a LTC-alzheimers/dementia floor. At first the DON said it would be on the subacute floor but all of a sudden that job got taken and the other position got thrown on the table. I have no experience in the healthcare industry and am very concerned about working with these types of patients. Can anyone tell me what to expect as far as responsibilities. The DON did not tell me much about this position because when I interviewed with her it was for the subacute unit. I need help deciding whether or not to take this position. Thank you any input would be greatly appreciated.
  5. Sorry if I confused you but this is what she told me---there are 3 nurses and 1 charge nurse who sits at the desk. Each nurse has 2 CNAs and give or take 15 pts each.
  6. Thanks for the advice it's greatly appreciated. I didn't think about them being off the floor. Im kind of hoping I get the job as scary as it sounds:)
  7. This question is for all the LTC nurses out there. I am a newly licensed RN with no experience in the medical field except for my clinicals, I recently went on an interview for a job in a nursing on a subacute unit m-f day shift wkends off. On this floor there are 52pts,3 RNs, and 2 CNAs/RN, eventually after my orientation is over, which depends on the individual (could be 4weeks minimum depending on how quickly I learn things) I would have 15 pts/ day. Does this sound doable for a new RN like myself. The DON said it was very busy and fast paced and the reason she is hiring someone is b/c an RN manager wants to back to nights. This kind of scares me b/c i wonder why that nurse wants to go back to nights, isn't that a dream shift for most people?I'm afraid I won't be able to handle such a large case load and also feel like I'm setting myself up to fail. PLEASE HELP ANY ADVICE WOULD BE REALLY APPRECIATED!
  8. I am also starting nursing school next week and looking for a good pair of shoes. I am willing to buy the MBT's but can anyone tell me how long they will last? I plan on wearing them for clinicals only.
