we had 4 pt's on our unit , i was in charge, we had one discharge , which left us with three pt's . i took one pt and gave the other nurse 2 pts', and a admit coming. the other nurse freaked out and told me i need to take it. i said we have only 3 pt's on this unit. this nurse feaked out , told me i was unfair and saying i needed to take the pt. i said what? you can take up to 8 pt's , he went on and on how unfair i was. i was shocked .. he was yelling at me at the nurses station. he said to me " your really trying to avoid that admit arn't you? for cripes sakes we had 3 pt's on the unit , he had 2 other pt's. i was in charge of the unit, he has been a bully before to me , so i did a midas on him. since when do you give the Charge nurse your pt?? so weird... has anyone ever encountered bullying in the work place ? and as a charge nurse a staff nurse refusing to take a pt , when he only has 2 himself? he yelled at me so loud a CNA heard him yelling at me down in the hall. he did this at the nurses station in front of staff.... crazy , anyway thank you for letting me in vent ..
Okay now that is more understandable. However, you wrecked your credibility and confirmed what I already thought, that this wasn't a true story. In the original post you stated that the other nurse was a male saying "he" throughout, and in your last post you referred to the nurse as a "she." Based on your last statement I was more understanding of the situation; however, please don't plague these boards with untrue stories claiming it to be true, for attention seeking purposes. thank you all for responding. i actually have alot to do and on weekends i am the liason for the hospital and i go out and assess pt 's and bring them to the unit. i have alot to do, and it takes me time to work up pt's ., we needed pt's to increase our census. it was indeed her resposibilty to take that third pt , this is about team work. and if she didn't start yelling at me i probably would of , helped her with that pt. that nurse was out of line and to yell at me in a pt care area and the 2 cna's heard this and a pt . she can have up to 8 pt's , well she is now a level 3 , and was asked to look for another job. we want team players, i worked up 4 pts that day and now we are up to 6 pts. we are a 15 bed unit. thank you all for your input you are all awesome !! :)
What kind of a unit do you work on?
A liason for what?
You go out and assess pts and bring them to the unit, from where? and to what kind of unit?
yes it was bullying and she has a history of this i turned her in before. it really wasn't worth all that yelling at me , it was crazy ! then i caught her watching TV later in the day .. believe me she had plenty of time for that admit.. i was running around walking the pt's and and answering the call lights..i told her to answer the call lights. i do all the stuff the CNA does. we didn't have a CNA i was floating them to another unit, when this went down. i always take my share of the pt's and do what is fair. yelling at me will get you squat.. ! i talk softely and carry a big stick!

Or perhaps OP is just trying to maintain some anonymity and changing genders to make it less obvious who she is in real life. (And slipped up later.)

Yyyyep, I'm finding it hard to understand how people are condemning the OP while having absolutely NO IDEA what "charge" means at that particular facility....
