Is this a homework question? What has your research shown you? Where do you need clarification?

Hint there is not only one cause of meningitis.

There should be a question when registering on this site, "Do you plan on only asking for help on homework?" that way it can weed out all of the people asking for answers.

Well, let's see...
Mening-itis... Meninges are inflamed...
OK, that's a start...
Why are they inflamed?
Well, what causes inflammation in general?
Microorganisms cause all kinds of inflammation... what kinds of microorganisms cause inflammation... and what do we do about it? Kill 'em if you can and generally keep the patient alive long enough for their immune system to kill 'em
Immune system.... Hey, I think immune systems can cause inflammation, right? Autoimmune, I think they call it. Nothing really to kill... but still inflammation to deal with... what kinds of things can help with inflammation? Are there any ways to help down-regulate the immune response?
Let's see now... we've covered bugs and the body... what other kinds of things cause inflammation? The body is pretty complicated and not just the immune system can go haywire and out of control... what else goes crazy haywire and out of control? Out of control cellular division, perhaps.
At least to me, you can answer your question by thinking along the previous lines of thought and answering some of those questions.

Unless of course you are asking for medical advice - which per the TOS we cannot give you.

Depends on what kind of meningitis you're talking about...
It could be manningitis, or an inflammation of the mannary gland.

I thought "manning-itis" was inflammation of the head in either Peyton or Eli Manning
