Hey nurses!
I'm an ER travel RN traveling to Lewes, DE with another RN friend of mine. We'll be working at Beebe from 5/23-9/9. We're having a lot of trouble finding a place to rent for the summer that isn't outrageously priced or way fancier than we need. Any suggestions? Anybody else going there for the summer? Looking forward to it!!

Place your own ad on Craigslist. You will get responses you won't find anywhere else. Make sure you tell them you are travel nurses (highly desirable tenants) and any other pluses like no pets, smoking, parties, loud music.

I don't care for facebook but, it helps with travel nursing. Its truly the best communication resource for travel nursing. Great support group. You need to get on Facebook with these questions and not allnurses.
There is another job board that list the top dollar jobs. I don't even bother with allnurses for travel stuff. The responses fail in comparison to what is on FB.

Thanks! May I ask why on earth you are visiting a forum you don't find valuable and insult the participants?
I am not insulting, perceive it how you want. This forum is not as active as others on all nurses. I find allnurses to be a great source of information overall. When dealing with traveling, I beg to differ.
When you say my responses are a fail (I am one of the "responders" here), yes, that is insulting. How else could any reasonable reader take it? Now you are arguing and continuing to insult.

I agree with ned. You could easily state where to go on fb and leave it at that. You would rather toss out some BS comment about how bad this forum is as well as its respondents. Why bother looking in here, better yet, if your so informative, give up some of your great intel. You said nothing that was helpful.
Saying to go on Facebook and ask the question without saying where to ask is like saying to ask for something in the middle of India.
Man I would hate to work with you. This is the internet, stop taking it so darn personal. I was saying it fails as in the sheer number of respondents, nothing directed towards you personally or I would of stated your username. Since you want to start something that is not really happening, so be it, I am done with it because it never existed.

Whatever, man I did direct where to go on FB. The mods edited my post so now it appears I did not give directions to the famous curry spot in Mumbai, Peace.
Great apology. Not. If your "responses" are indicative of FaceBook value, your recommendation falls flat.
As a technical note, forums are superior to FaceBook for several reasons. You can have threaded conversations here that you can actually follow. Would you find those other forums you say you like here if they were all merged into one thread FaceBook style?
All posts are archived here and readily searchable here or via Google. If you want dirt on a specific agency or hospital, information about bringing family as a travel nurse, or valid information about renting your house out as a travel nurse, try searching for that on FaceBook. You will fail and succeed here finding many relevant theads.
FaceBook has its own value. For heavy users, you are on it anyway so that is of course where you have a lot of conversations. But it is much more random in my experience.

FB provides CURRENT info. What is someone getting out of a thread that was from 2011 about housing in LA? I want to know what people are doing NOW, not 12 years ago. You can type in key words in the search area on facebook and it goes years back to when the group was started. Once someone post something on FB it does not disappear into the night. Threads can be followed just like allnurses. Once someone replies even years later, if you posted on that topic you get a notification. So yes, for super old information on housing, agencies from 2004 allnurses has facebook beat. FB did not exist until 2005. Allnurses is a great source of information overall. When it comes to traveling it is second tier information.

It is always good to point to a resource such as Facebook to be helpful online, but rude to badmouth the very site you are posting on. What would you think about Facebook posts that say to bail from FB because it is worthless for information and come here? You would call them a troll and request that they leave.

Again you are insulting the very forum you are posting on. No matter your opinion of the value of this forum, it is incredibly bad manners. It is always good to point to a resource such as Facebook to be helpful online, but rude to badmouth the very site you are posting on. After reading this back and forth, it has become clear this has been blown out of proportion. As a traveler I too found Facebook helpful for experienced and newbies. There is a newbie group which is a good source of info. Look at the many threads on here about 1st assignment or new to travel. I just got off an assignment in Washington state. Personally I do not find the comments offensive. Simply ranking the source of information, should not be taken as rude or insulting. Facebook does contain more real time information. Nothing insulting about that. Don't start getting angry at a very true fact. Ned, you missed the point of praise, Bottomed out has given Allnurses forum. You harp on what you perceive to be negative. I understand your frustration, with Bottomedout telling users to go over there, instead here. The truth is Ned, you post in the forum on every thread started. For Bottomedout, to direct folks away would decrease your use. I get the sense you feel you're a great source of information. Truth is you may be a good source of information however, the traffic here is a lower than over there. Your instant replies are good but, people want more input than just you.
