Traveling with American Mobile

Published

Hello fellow nurses =)

I have 2 years Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (Telemetry/Step Down) and have 1 year experience in Neurovascular Stepdown. I am going to start my first traveling assignment with American Mobile for Kaiser in Modesto, CA. I would appreciate it if you guys can give me some advice, recommendations, and suggestions. This is what they offered me:

Position: Registered Nurse

Shift: 12 Hour Nights

Minimum Required Hours: 36

Regular Rate: $28.39

On Call Rate: $4.00

Call Back Rate: $28.39

Holiday Rate: $42.59

Per Diem Rate: $35.00/day

Missed Shift Adjustment: $18.00/hr

Subsidy: $2100.00 monthly, calculated as a per-day amount, paid in each pay check.

PLEASE GIVE SOME INPUT ASAP BEFORE I SIGN THE CONTRACT ^_^ THANKS FOLKS!

american mobile is not the best company to go with, in the long run they will screw you out of some pay, be it housing, if you miss a shift you pay it back, just look around there are better companies out there.

Specializes in ER.

A friend of mine (Travel Nurse) would not recommend American Mobile to me, too. She said what was agreed verbally was not the one in written contract. Just make sure everything is done in writing.

I traveled with American Mobile for a few assignments and they were great! I had a great recruiter. In fact, one of my assignment was not safe (I was a afraid I'd lose my nursing liscence unsafe) and I had to terminate my contract. AM was very helpful and supportive in this process. I won't travel with another company.

Specializes in medical surgical.

That pay seems low to me for Ca. I make that traveling in GA.

It's an average contract. Keep in mind you pay out that wahzoo for any missed shifts. I do not recommend AMN after your first travel assignment. They're money grubbing scumbags.

Specializes in None paid. Did internships in ED, Tele.

HRN Pays way better and are very professional. In California they are the company to work for. I have been a travel nurse since 2000.

If you haven't any other offers and you are ready to go, go ahead and sign. Do this contract with them to get your feet wet. Mean while Aureus and CrossCountry are excellent companies to work for. Also, HRN in California is great too, they pay way better too.

I have been traveling since 2000. FYI most companies will charge you back a percentage on housing if you miss a shift and don't make it up. They will give you back the $ if you make up the hours usually. If you don't work they don't get paid for those missed hours either. The contracts generally state a minimum of hours you will be expected to work. The company expects to get paid for those hours too so if you work less than scheduled you are actually in breech of your contract with the agency.
